| 04 Dec 2012: "Mob Rules" by Black Sabbath Dio's second album with Black Sabbath, and the last before Gillan's stint. The album starts with Turn Up the Night, which has SO MANY SOLOS DOG IT'S FUCKING CRAZY Overall, this album is better than Heaven and Hell, and a very strong note for Dio to head into his solo career with.
Seriously, real talk for a moment. This album shows what Dio is capable of in an album context. It rivals Long Live Rock 'n' Roll and Rising as Dio's best work. Dio needed a band like Rainbow or Black Sabbath to elevate his albums. Sure, some of his best songs were released solo, but come on. |

| BONUS REVIEW: "Fireball" by Deep Purple http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/10/image-uploads-down-by-oh-no.html The second half of the album kind of drags on. The songs are all too long, which is disappointing, because they'd be pretty great otherwise. |

| 05 Dec 2012: "Some Nights" by fun. I needed to get this out of the way this month, because it's a 2012 album. This album features the band's breakthrough hit, We are Young. It was in Rock Band Blitz, and it got me to listen to Aim and Ignite. Thus, it is SUPER-IMPORTANT TO MY CHRONOLOGY OF ASSRAPING GUYS After a relisten of Aim and Ignite last night, I realised that the middle is kind of a large low. Luckily, this album is more consistent (if you forgive Stars, which is a mess of vocal effects that goes on for FAR too long), even though it doesn't have standout tracks like Be Calm, Take Your Time, or Benson Hedges. |

| 06 Dec 2012: "Accelerate" by R.E.M. After listening to about a thousand R.E.M. albums, I can honestly say that this is the best one since Monster.* *I had to skip one of their albums since I couldn't find it. |

| 07 Dec 2012: "Death Magnetic" by Metallica I'm doing it So, for years I've been saying the guitar solos on this album have the single worst guitar tone ever. I previewed them from a Guitar Hero video, so either: A: The Guitar Hero versions have really shitty guitar solos B: The guy uploading the video fucked it up somehow C: I'm full of shit
Since C happens often, I'll go with that. Sorry, Metallica. You produced an okay album. All Nightmare Long is kind of good. I like it more than I should, even if it's, like, three minutes too long. And there lies my biggest problem with Metallica. They always have to make their songs three minutes longer than they should be. |

| 08 Dec 2012: "Oceania" by Smashing Pumpkins This is their newest album, from this year. It's part three of Teargarden by whatever. I skipped part two. This album is probably their best since the first Machina. However, that amounts to a 3/5. |

| BONUS REVIEW: "Armed Forces" by Elvis Costello http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/10/where-are-you-taking-me-guys-by-frog.html This album was obviously phoned in. Nothing stands out, because nothing is very good. Sure, there's nothing bad here, but there's also nothing good. Fuck you, Elvis Costello. |

| 09 Dec 2012: "Centipede Hz" by Animal Collective General consensus says that this album is disappointing, and I would agree. However, it's a 2012 album and I must review it. The version I got came from /mu/, and the genre was labeled as "shit". So, yeah. This album is okay. It's interesting, but there's nothing that really stands out. |

| BONUS REVIEW: "Cunning Stunts" by Caravan http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/10/believe-in-it-by-believers.html This album has the best title. Believe it. The album cover's also pretty cool. The music, however, is just okay. Shame. |

| 10 Dec 2012: "Black Gives Way to Blue" by Alice in Chains This is the first Alice in Chains album to feature not-Layne. It is also the only one at this point. Not-Layne does a pretty good job, and this album is definitely the most consistent Alice in Chains album, but it doesn't have a highlight like Rain When I Die or Dam That River. |

| 12 Dec 2012: "¡Tré!" by Green Day The finale of the trilogy of mediocrity. To be fair, though, this is obviously the best of them. Saving the best for last, however, only works if the other things are good. It seems to me that the trilogy got better as it went along, but only because it set the bar so low with ¡Uno!. This trilogy might have made a good single album if these guys weren't so pretentious. Sure, it would still be their worst album, but at least it wouldn't have been so fucking stupid. If you want to hear the absolute best song of the trilogy, listen to Dirty Rotten Bastards. If you want to hear the absolute worst, listen to Kill the DJ. |

| BONUS REVIEW: "Tonight I'm Yours" by Rod Stewart http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/10/thailors-by-thailors.html Remind me to stay in the '70s with this guy. But, hey. Young Turks is still great. Even if one of the lines in the chorus is retarded. "don't let them ever change your point of view" Seriously, changing your point of view is generally a good thing. This never happens lightly. For it to happen, one must be rational and consider every viewpoint objectively. This requires both maturity and intelligence. Now, these "young hearts", as Rod refers to them, seem to be in the right. However, the song only gives their perspective, the one of young love and being misunderstood. Many details are left out. If their parents are such a large factor in their lives, they're probably still in high school. Having a baby in high school is always a bad thing. Always. If you do not graduate from high school, you will never get a job. This is a fact. The low-end jobs, such as fast food or grocery store work, would much rather hire someone who is still in high school. Places like McDonald's get more job applications than they can handle, and without even a high school education under your belt, or about to be under your belt, you stand literally zero chance in the world. And, on top of that, they ran away from their parents, who are most likely to support them in their new unhirable state. Now they have a baby and are living alone as kids outside of high school. To be honest, they're retarded. They didn't think this through. Either they'll be crawling back to their parents, or they'll be dead. Guess whose point of view needs changing, Rod. |

| 13 Dec 2012: "Torches" by Foster the People So, I guess basing an album around one song isn't the best way to go about it. This album was based around the surprise hit Pumped Up Kicks. The rest of the album is good. It's nothing groundbreaking, though. |

| 14 Dec 2012: "Days Go By" by The Offspring 2012 and all. The lead single, Cruising California, is fucking AWFUL. I cannot overstate this. Selling out and trying to make pop music isn't a good thing, guys. |

| BONUS REVIEW: "Real to Reel Vol. 2" by Tesla http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/10/balls-in-hamper-by-men-of-action.html Once again, I'll be comparing the covers to the originals. We'll see how this goes. All the Young Dudes is the best version of the song I've heard. Shooting Star is pretty good, but the guy's voice doesn't fit it too well. Street-Fighting Man isn't as good as the original. Seasons of Wither isn't as good as the original. Saturday Night Special isn't as good as the original. War Pigs is nowhere near the brilliance of the original. OVERALL THOUGH VERY GOOD |
