I HOPE HE WASN'T LYING LIKE I WAS WHEN I SAID I LISTENED TO IT OH SHIT HE WASN'T LYING THIS IS PRETTY COOL ACTUALLY SORRY AGNEW WELL MAYBE BARK AT THE MOON-ESQUE IS PUSHING IT BUT IT'S SUPER-COOL ANYWAY i still think ocean avenue is better

20 Jul 2012: "Women and Children First" by Van Halen Van Halen's third album. To be fair, this is their second-best album I've heard, behind the debut. Shame that Tora! Tora!/Loss of Control are pretty much filler. To be honest, this was much better than I was expecting.

21 Jul 2012: "Every Picture Tells a Story" by Rod Stewart FUCK YEAH ROD STEWART RYM's automatic recommendations gave me this, and I like Rod Stewart, so here we are. This album features such hits as THE TITLE TRACK, and MAGGIE MAY. This album features such shitty things I hate as FEMALE BACKING VOCALISTS. I have docked points for them! Because they are awful! But, overall, this album is GOOD. Maybe even VERY GOOD.

BONUS REVIEW: "Louder Than Love" by Soundgarden http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2011/05/guards-guarding-guards-by-men-of-it.html DRAGON AGE II NEVER STOPS This album is very unpolished and is kind of just "LET'S BE LOUD AND FAST". It works well, actually. Soundgarden's second-best album, behind Superunknown.

BONUS BONUS REVIEW: "Rust in Peace" by Megadeth http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2011/05/i-dont-want-to-be-roman-by-marcus.html So, I did that thing to this album. That thing where I like another less popular thing better, and everyone loves this thing, so I end up hating this thing irrationally. Or not? My complaints about Holy Wars are valid as FUCK. The entire first minute could be excised easily. Fuck it. It should not be there. But it doesn't ruin the song as a whole, because the rest of the song is fucking awesome. Hangar 18; the song that I am called out the most for criticising. I really like the first half, but I still think the second half drags on for too long. So fuck off, I'm right. Take No Prisoners is kind of gay. It's decent, I guess. AND NOW IT'S TIME FOR A CONFESSION I'd owned the album for years, and never listened to Five Magics, Poison Was the Cure, Lucretia, Dawn Patrol, or My Creation. I guess it's time to rectify that. Five Magics starts off boring, but gets really good. So here's my question: WHY IS THE FIRST HALF EVEN THERE; IT IS SHITTY AND THE SECOND HALF IS SUPER-GOOD Fuck this shit. Poison Was the Cure also suffers from "first half being absolute shit and the second being good". I hate this album on principle. Lucretia is the best song on the album. It is unique in that 100% of it is good. I like this song the best for this reason. Oh, Tornado of Souls also. Tornado of Souls is the one song here that I never pretended not to like. It's that good. Dawn Patrol is just shitty, full stop. But I thank it for just being shitty and not being half shitty and half great. My Creation is short and pretty good. Thanks guys Last is the title track. Earth's population loves Polaris. I have no complaints about Rust in Peace... Polaris. I really like it. My assessment of Rust in Peace was technically correct; there is too much padding, and the worst part isn't that there is padding, but rather that it happens in the songs themselves. Just like ... and Justice for All. Dave is more like James and friends than he wanted to be. ALSO IT IS STILL OVERRATED AS FUCK Highlights: Tornado of Souls, Lucretia, Rust in Peace... Polaris Lowlights: Dawn Patrol, Take No Prisoners In relation to other albums: Worse than: KIMB, SFSGSW, Countdown, Youthanasia, Hidden Treasures On-par with: Peace Sells, The System Has Failed Better than: Cryptic Writings, Risk, Endgame, Thirteen Haven't listened to: The World Needs a Hero, United Abominations

22 Jul 2012: "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John I really like Funeral for a Friend. It seems like something I'd hate, but I really like it. I do think that the intro could be cut down a bit, though. HOWEVER, I do not like Bennie and the Jets at all. So fuck everything. I'll be honest; I didn't think I'd like this album at all. BUT I DID

BONUS REVIEW: "Live at the Apollo" by James Brown http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2011/05/orange-is-by-such.html Yeah. /mu/ is trying to kill me. Begins with the introduction to the show, which I don't care about because I'm not there. These songs/performances aren't very good. No energy, no whatever James Brown is known for doing. Sigh. Is it too much to ask for a James Brown album that sounds like what you'd expect a James Brown album to sound like?

23 Jul 2012: "The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle" by Bruce Springsteen Some of the songs on here, particularly Rosalita, remind me of Elvis Costello. I know this album came out first, but Elvis Costello is rather popular, and it would be hard to hear this album before an Elvis Costello song in this day and age. This album, overall, is pretty good. Certainly not as good as Born to Run or Born in the USA, but better than Darkness on the Edge of Town.

BONUS REVIEW: "Five-Man Acoustical Jam" by Tesla http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2011/05/penis-by-touch-it.html This album was decently successful and spawned a HIT SINGLE in their cover of Signs. Their cover of The Grateful Dead's Truckin' sounds an awful lot like the original, but with acoustic guitars. Their cover of We Can Work it Out is competent as FUCK. Their cover of Signs was everywhere (read: on the local rock station a lot) in 2006/2007 for some reason, even though this album came out in 1990. Their cover of CCR's Lodi is also competent as FUCK. This album is good, even if the encores are all filler.

24 Jul 2012: "Out of Our Heads" by The Rolling Stones This album has I Can't Get No Satisfaction on it. You know. Like most The Rolling Stones albums, Out of Our Heads is middling in quality. This makes it infinitely better than Between the Buttons.

BONUS REVIEW: "Kinks" by The Kinks http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2011/04/real-reviews-tomorrow-by-say-it-aint-so.html I apparently downloaded a twenty-six song ultra-bonus thing. This album is okay. More okay than I thought possible. All Day and All of the Night is still shitty, though. But the cover of Louie, Louie makes up for it.

25 Jul 2012: "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" by Rainbow This is the third and final Rainbow album with Dio. It's actually a very good way to end an album trilogy, despite not being as good as Rising. I know we make jokes here, but I really like Dio, and it's sad he died all those two years ago, especially in such an un-rock 'n' roll way. Hungry for Heaven jokes aside: REST IN PEACE YOU OR ELSE

BONUS REVIEW: "I Should Coco" by Supergrass http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2011/05/lemons-by-best-things-ever.html I hate the cover of this album. Hate. It's not a mild dislike, like with The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle a few days ago. I hate it. Let me set the scene: It's 1995, and I have enough money to buy an album. I've bought everything I really care about, so I'm just browsing for something cool. I see I Should Coco on the shelf, flip it over, and walk away. I would not want to own an album with this cover, even if I had been 19 in 1995. It's a shame because it's a good album. probably their worst album though ALBUM COVERS ARE IMPORTANT GUYS

26 Jul 2012: "Lost Dogs" by Pearl Jam This is a collection of Pearl Jam b-sides and demos and shit. 31 songs here. Most of these songs are good, but I can see why they weren't put on albums, sans Riot Act. Fucking hell, Riot Act was shitty. Oh, Yellow Ledbetter and Last Kiss are here, also. And an instrumental version of Brother. I'm glad that the super-remaster of Ten included a version of Brother with vocals. Yellow might like this version, though. All kinds of effects and shit.

LIVE EP TIME Basically, this EP consists of 21 Guns, Welcome to Paradise, Brain Stew/Jaded, and F.O.D. A VERY GOOD SELECTION IF YOU ASK ME this version of brain stew/jaded is kind of shitty in every direction ALL OF THE DIRECTIONS GUYS THERE IS NO DIRECTION OF THIS BRAIN STEW/JADED THAT IS NOT SHITTY |

28 Jul 2012: "The Stooges" by The Stooges Yellow would probably like 1969, but it fades out so it's the worst song ever I Wanna be Your Dog is as annoying as ever. ANY SONG THAT STARTS WITH CHANTING IS SHIT ABSOLUTE SHIT SO FUCK OFF, WE WILL FALL And the rest of the album is incredibly average! Hooray!

BONUS REVIEW: "The Commercial Album" by The Residents http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2011/05/hats-big-day-off-by-hat.html So here's where I'm at. I chose this album because it has the best concept for an album ever: forty songs that are each a minute long. I love the idea to death, but if the album is bad, I will be SUPER-disappointed. The problem here is that instead of making forty good songs, they decided they could be indulgent as FUCK. Strangely, the instrumentals seem to be the best. I can't tell if anyone here would like this. I'd definitely recommend listening to it, because it's so different. It's weird, because one minute, I'm like "yeah this is cool" and the next, I'm like "what". The third minute could be either or even be like "why". To be fair, though, I doubt I could sit through more than a minute of these songs.

29 Jul 2012: "Heart On" by Eagles of Death Metal I love the title "I Used to Couldn't Dance". Oh, and, by the way, this is their best album. They're all really good, however. But if you don't like one, you won't like any of them.

BONUS REVIEW: "Valley of the Damned" by DragonForce http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2011/05/my-heart-is-like-wheel-guys-by-frog.html SHORT FILLER INTRO TRACK THE BEST WAY TO START A DEBUT DRAGONFORCE SURE KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING I don't like ZP's voice very much on the debut here. It does get better towards the end, though. The songs are about the same as ever, but you know. HOWEVER, this album has the best album cover of any DragonForce album ever. so far away, we wait for the day; when the valley is so evil and damned; we feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days; through the black winter night, we carry on
