man the band isn't even close to the same with the new lineup
obama-era songs that are kind of political have such a different air to them than the ones we have nowadays it's refreshing |

this album has a song called taxman it is a lot better than the beatles's song of the same name because it doesn't call out individual taxmen (also the guitar part is nice)
it's gettin' pretty bad would probably have made every guitar hero list i ever made back in the day

the album would be better with a singer who actually can these vocals are just barely not completely irritating except on slow songs where they are completely irritating
imagine the guy from sparks except he can't sing |

| 24 Aug 2018: Fall Out Boy/"Mania" (2018) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2018/08/many-mania.html
i already regret this the first track is far above expectations the only thing that makes it below mediocre is the "are you smelling it" part
remember when we were teenagers and blindly hated fall out boy even though they actually weren't bad?! well they're bad enough now to make it retroactively deserved
track four features a repeating line: "i'll stop wearing black when they make a darker colour" except the way he says "colour" is the absolute worst and he does it over and over way too much of this album is repeating the same line many many times in a row
i hate cheap hooks the most obvious thing that means is what fall out boy did to death on their last two albums; just have a guy going 'woah-oah-oah' over and over but this album has a different one that irritates me you're singing a line normally, but one word has a stutter on it like the guy says "but you know it's true-ue" and of course it repeats throughout the song and i hate it i hate music basically
track nine may be the worst recording to ever have been called music |

alice in chains's last album was an annoying edgy atheist album so my expectations are low this album is a lot better than that one thankfully but nowhere near the classic material about as good as black gives way to blue i guess |

why did he pitch-shift his voice so much i hate when people do that
heartland feeling would be a fun song if not for: 1. the dumb-ass minute-long intro 2. the pitch-shifting |

| 01 Sep 2018: The Beatles/"The White Album" (1968) [revisited] http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2018/09/the-white-album-revisited.html
back in the ussr is the best opener they could have had; it makes you think nothing is amiss with this album (plus it's a 10/10 song) dear prudence, in contrast, sucks there is absolutely nothing good about dear prudence (the worst thing about it is that it got into rock band the beatles instead of like anything else)
luckily, glass onion brings things back with another 10/10 ob-la-di, ob-la-da is a nice song, but the anthology 3 version is better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xp4DDkHXaOs wild honey pie is exactly how you do a song like that; short, sweet, and to the point
bungalow bill exists while my guitar gently weeps could have been any other band's best song however, in the context of the beatles, it is only mediocre i mean it's better than bungalow bill but it's immediately dwarfed afterward by happiness is a warm gun
martha my dear is basically just paul mccartney being paul mccartney, but this time he's done it better than most other times i'm so tired is probably the best song lennon ever did with the beatles piggies exists however, piggies seems like a masterpiece compared to rocky raccoon rocky raccoon is the worst track the beatles ever recorded until track 25
i am the biggest ringo apologist, but don't pass me by isn't very good why don't we do it in the road is a masterpiece following it with i will is absolutely perfect julia is kind of boring
birthday has one of the best guitar riffs the band ever wrote yer blues is one of those songs that is exactly what i want out of lennon; the type of thing that only he would bring to the band, but also it's really good and not pretentious/political/whatever (yer blues also features a really good vocal performance; i don't think anyone could nail this song as well as lennon did, and i say this as a mccartney fan) mother nature's son is an okay song but it feels really underwhelming after yer blues and that is doubly true when immediately after it is everybody's got something to hide etc.
sexy sadie exists helter skelter, though, is one of the band's absolute best songs (also one of the world's most uncoverable songs; i mean how did motley crue and aerosmith fuck it up so goddamn bad when they're naturally harder and heavier bands than the beatles?! it boggles the mind that the only decent cover i've heard is by fucking u2 of all bands) it's followed by two terrible songs: long long long and revolution 1 revolution 1 is a blight on the face of music
honey pie is a classic cheesy mccartney song; i love it savoy truffle is the second-best harrison song of the four on this album (isn't that just sad?) cry baby cry exists
revolution 9 is art fine art good night |
