This album has a horrible ballad on it! It's pretty sweet. It's also the longest song on the album by far.
Otherwise, this album's pretty good. Begins and ends on the best tracks.

I really like this one. It's a really nice return to form after Good News for People Who Love Bad News.
Shame the second side is inferior as fuck.
I honestly can't decide between a 3.5 and a 4 for this.

As a side note, I really liked the title of this review. "Only You! Can Prevent Forest Fires" by Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Anyway, Blue Oyster Cult have always been pretty average. I've given all of their albums up to this point a 3/5 or a 3.5/5.
This album has a song called The Marshall Plan, which apparently wants to be I Wanna be Your Dog? At least it's not horrible like I Wanna be Your Dog. And it also wants to be Smoke on the Water? And every rock song created up to that point?
This is the best Blue Oyster Cult album at this point in their discography. I'm actually surprised.

01 Nov 2012: "Long Tall Sally" by The Beatles
British EP of previously unreleased songs. They're all on Past Masters, though, so I've heard them approximately 19,016.264 times each.
This EP is pretty good, but the only super-good song is the title track. Slow Down's pretty cool, too.

BONUS REVIEW: "Aerosmith" by Aerosmith revisited

Here's another album I don't think I actually listened to. In fact, I only recognise three songs; Make It, Movin' Out, Dream On, and Mama Kin, all of which were in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (and are played on CLASSIC ROCK RADIO loads).

Let's be honest, the moment One Way Street came on, I knew that I hadn't listened to this previously. Because it's one of Aerosmith's best songs.
Overall, fuck past me. He was really fucking lame.

I think I listened to this at one point, actually. But fuck if I can remember it.
I forgot how great the title track here is. I vaguely remembered it, but I forgot how great the GUITAR SOLO is. BAD GRAMMAR SORRY
I vaguely remembered the track from Aerosmith's seminal album, Toys in the Attic, "Toys in the Attic", however, I neglected to remember the guitar solo and its greatness.
Round and Round still reminds me of Cochise. Shame Guitar Hero 1 wasn't very good and neither are Audioslave
You See Me Crying is pretty sweet. I'd totally listen to it.
Overall, better than I'd remembered, but still kind of overrated.

02 Nov 2012: "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back" by Public Enemy
How better to celebrate the one-year anniversary of actually reviewing albums than with RAPPING (and /mu/'s essentials list besides)
The version of Bring the Noise with Anthrax is better. This underscores the fact that I like rock music
I'm not a big fan of Flava Flav, to be honest. His hyping isn't the best. Chuck D needs a better hype man.
Or the SQUEALS AND SIREN SOUNDS
My problem with hip-hop as a genre is not the rapping. It's what's beneath the rapping. The high-pitched SQUEALS give me a headache.
I guess I should stop reviewing this genre.

BONUS REVIEW: "Book of Dreams" by The Steve Miller Band

Main draw here is Jet Airliner. Jungle Love is the only other song on this I'd heard beforehand.
Starting with a filler instrumental was a great move, Steve.
Luckily, Steve Miller and his band are very consistent. Consistently 2.5.

03 Nov 2012: "A Matter of Life and Death" by Iron Maiden
Naturally.
So, here, even on recording and after mastering and shit, Bruce Dickinson sounds old.
At track three, I hear what I came for. Nice job, Brighter Than a Thousand Suns.
The big story here, of course, is The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg. Worth the entire album, I'd say. For the Greater Good of God is just icing on the cake.
I hate giving this five stars. But they've forced my hand.
This album starts off good, but ends stronger than I thought possible for a band's fourteenth album.

BONUS REVIEW: "Balance" by Van Halen

The last album of Hagar's Van Halen.
The album cover features a set of naked conjoined twins on a seesaw. Hilarious.
This album rocks harder than any other Van Halen album. I like Sammy Hagar in a rock context.

You know why Van Halen I was Van Halen's most popular album? Filler instrumentals. LET'S GO HOG WILD WITH THEM GUYS

04 Nov 2012: "Heaven and Hell" by Black Sabbath
Not starting with the title track? Poor show. At least the opener they decided on is pretty great.
Since I'm sure that about 100% of us have heard the title track, I won't tell you how awesome it is.
If you're going to listen to a second Dio-era Sabbath song, make it Wishing Well. I heard this on one of those Dish Network TV radio things back in, like, 2009, and immediately loved it. If my putting it into every Guitar Hero/Rock Band list hasn't swayed you to give it a shot, then let these words do that thing I just mentioned.
On the Dio scale:
Better than the best of his solo albums (as far as I am), worse than his two great albums with Rainbow.

BONUS REVIEW: "Flaming Pie" by Paul McCartney

Ringo appears on this album. Just thought you should know.
This is the best album Macca's been involved with since Thriller.
Beautiful Night is the best song put out under Paul McCartney's name since Arrow Through Me.

This album opens with Woman from Tokyo, which is pretty great.
Unfortunately, it never goes beyond that quality, which is kind of disappointing.

If I could have my wasted days back, would I use them to get back on track?
I seriously can't tell if I genuinely like Frantic, or if I just think it's hilarious.
Most songs on this album are far too long, just like all of Metallica's albums.
My main thing with St. Anger is that it gets all this hate, and yet it is better than both Loads. And probably Death Magnetic.
BUT FUCKING HELL LARS IS BANGING ON A TRASHCAN

However, I was unimpressed with this album. Like, super-unimpressed.

07 Nov 2012: "Music from Another Dimension!" by Aerosmith
2012 NEVER ENDS
By adding female backing vocalists, Aerosmith have shot themselves in all of the feet. There are no feet left unshot.
What could have been the best song is now boring and awful.

A duet with Carrie Underwood?! I don't know what to say. Imagine me doing that thing where you stick your tongue out and make a "pbbbbbbttttt" noise while holding your thumb down.
The song "Lover Alot" gets two points off. One for having a stupid title, and a second for abbreviating "passive-agressive" to "passive-agress". Fuck you, Steven Tyler. I hate myself for even typing that.
Freedom Fighter is a nice song about how terrorism isn't actually that bad.
Overall, this album is pretty average-to-bad. Can't say I'm surprised.

08 Nov 2012: "For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night" by Caravan
Don't say I never listen to you
This album was very good, but there wasn't anything that made me jump out of my seat.
Also, the first track was the best on the album, and it's always kind of disappointing when that happens.
Also, it ends on a ten-minute instrumental medley thing. It's decent, but pretty lame.
