| Howdy Y'all.
Back in my /mu/ days, it was commonly quoted that Aphex Twin made at least one song a day to make sure he stayed fresh, constantly looking for inspiration, other stuff, etc.
A few weeks ago, a few friends of mine decided to start working on an App Game for phones, tablets, etc. They asked me to make music for them despite not knowing a theme yet. All I know is the game is going to be a capture the flag/chess style game on a grid board. All this comes at the same time I recently acquired a keyboard with a massive soundbank of effects. For example, since I don't have access to a drumset here, all of the drum sounds come from the soundbank.
To help inspire them to come up with a theme, to help me come up with better recording techniques, and just to give them a sampling of the type of stuff I could make for them, I have decided to start a daily song challenge for myself. I want to record a song that tries something new every time. Genre, styling, recording techniques, etc.
If any of y'all are interested, find the link to the current list of songs here: https://soundcloud.com/grandmasterlife/sets/daily-song-experiments
Some are serious, some are on the spot improvisations, and some are incredibly silly. Most are about 20-30 seconds long, with the longest being close to 2 and a half minutes long. There are lots of cheap panning tricks included as well, so headphones are highly recommended. Also, I take requests (as I'm already starting to run low on ideas). |

| oooh, glam metal sounds fun. I have tomorrow's song planned out already (based on synth wankery), and today's song is inspired by a topic of our recent discussions (you'll have to click the link above to get to it, because the censor breaks the word Pokémon in the URL lol) |

| Had some time over a lunch break to put this together:
https://soundcloud.com/grandmasterlife/moanin-glam-metal-edition
I plan on getting an outside source to add a crazy solo over top. Debating adding vocals (as I have no songs with vocals yet)
I also can't tell if it's glam metal, grunge, or something else entirely. Metal is such a weird genre. |

| sounds about like what glam metal bands turned into in the '90s we all know how i feel about THAT particular era
a good vocal track would definitely turn that around, however the "post-glam metal" era for those bands never had good vocal tracks
basically just imitate the guy from loverboy |

| so I made a song this morning that ended up sounding like, idk, something from the lion king or something. one features a backing track (of vocals) and one is just the main melody a capella Though there are no female backing singers, one might think there are https://soundcloud.com/grandmasterlife/mother-mother https://soundcloud.com/grandmasterlife/just-the-mothers (I feel conceited really enjoying my own music, but I've listened to Just The Mothers probably 50 since I made it) I wanted to practice vocals on something before I end up adding something to Moanin'. So stay tuned as always |

| those are both surprisingly really good
but the song it randomly gave me after your playlist was over was way too loud and hurt my ears physically so overall it wasn't worth it |

| Yeah, I can't figure out a way to stop Soundcloud from automatically playing the next song. Like, it makes sense in a playlist...but it automatically goes into "related songs" which is just songs I've liked in the past. so heckin' annoying |

| A friend of mine asked me to help make some background music to use for a final battle he's planning for his current Dungeons & Dragons campaign. He basically said he wanted it to sound like the Bloodborne OST, which is like grimdark spooky music with no melody whatsoever and incredibly hard to replicate on an electronic keyboard and guitars.
https://soundcloud.com/grandmasterlife/sets/dnd-boss-battle-suite
Part 1: True intro piece, can't be looped. Part 2: Melody piece, to be looped (but not too much...it gets stale quickly.) Part 3: Segue from part 2 into part 4 Part 4: Much more atmospheric, combination of about 12 2.5 minute one takes that can be looped.
Working on a part 5 yet, but I'd love to hear what y'all think of this so far. It's much more...composed than my normal stuff. |

| i'm not sure how i feel about those trumpets in the intro the second part's melody seems really familiar but i can't place it
if you were going for "generically spooky" in the fourth track, you nailed it
i mean, given your request, i don't think you could have done much better not very memorable though |

| I had showed him Part 2 yesterday, and he wanted something with less distinction. More Background-focused stuff. So I made Part 4 to be as non-discernable as possible. I think the whole point is to create a setting and to make it as less memorable as possible. Makes it easier on me, so I'm all for it |

| btw part 5 and 6 went live Saturday morning. Supposedly it went well, though my friend told me the final boss fight took 6 hours to complete...This music is not meant to be looped for 6 hours lol |
