>Two rows of three buttons >First-person only >Everything is live action ACTIVISION: FUCKING SHIT UP IN INNOVATIVE WAYS
Confirmed artists: American Authors Carrie Underwood Ed Sheeran Fall Out Boy Gary Clark, Jr. Green Day My Chemical Romance Of Monsters and Men Pierce the Veil Skrillex The Black Keys The Blitz Kids The Killers The Lumineers The Rolling Stones The War on Drugs
By my count: 5.5 legitimate artists 3.5 flash-in-the-pan bullshit 6 "literally who"s 1 stupid bitch
Confirmed songs: American Authors/"Best Day of My Life" literally what
Of Monsters and Men/"Little Talks" I can't STAND the girl's voice on this song. Can't STAND it.
The Black Keys/"Gold on the Ceiling" One of the better songs the band did after selling out, I suppose. Pretty boring, though. |

| Really? There are six names there I have never heard before in my life.
I'm kind of worried about The Rolling Stones. If history repeats itself, Harmonix will be completely unable to get anything from them, and not-Neversoft will completely waste their ability to actually use the band's music, by not doing that. |

| The three I don't recognize are American Authors, Gary Clark Jr., and The Blitz Kids. All else I've either heard of, or I know that one song they have.
At this point I've lost track of which rolling stones songs have been in either game, but I can't imagine there's very much good stuff remaining. Unless they intend this to be a complete reboot and they go after songs that have already been in the game.
My biggest worry is, based on the current setlist, they're really after the modern music market (aka people that have probably never actually played guitar hero before). A vast majority of these bands have only been around/widely recognized since the late 2000s, and half the fun of rhythm games is discovering new music. |

| I agree. Green Day and The Rolling Stones are really the only post-2000 artists there, and they'll probably use a song from Uno/Dos/Tre, so Green Day's out.
I also wouldn't put it past them to reuse old songs, but even if they don't, The Rolling Stones still have enough good songs that haven't been used. A quick Google shows that they've done the following:
Can't You Hear Me Knockin' Paint it Black Sympathy for the Devil Stray Cat Blues Honky Tonk Woman You Gotta Move I'm Free Satisfaction Prodigal Son Under My Thumb
Kind of a sub-par selection, to be honest.
As a note, the Fall Out Boy song is My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark, which is fine by me. The only decent song from the last two albums. |

i'm pretty sure purple used to spam levels just before xat ended, not to mention they've made two of the more famous songs of the past 5 years
in fact, if you just type an "a" into youtube, the first suggestion is "avicii levels" (at least for me) |

| For me, it's Ariana Grande. Av gets me Avengers 2: Age of Ultron. But, yes, I believe I have heard both Levels and Wake Me Up before. I didn't know the name of the artist. The name Avicii sounded familiar, but I just chalked it up to hearing the same Spotify ads for months on end.
I'll rescind my "literally who" and change it to "flash-in-the-pan bullshit". |

| They've announced TEN MORE TRACKS Queen -- "Tie Your Mother Down" (sweet) Alice In Chains -- "Stone" (the devil put dinosaurs here was absolute shit) Bullet For My Valentine -- "Temper Temper" (fine whatever) Deap Vally[sic] -- "Lies" (LITERALLY who) Wolfmother -- "Sundial" (fine whatever) Weezer -- "Buddy Holly" (all right) Angus & Julia Stone -- "A Heartbreak" (literally who) Catfish and the Bottlemen -- "Kathleen" (literally who) Neon Trees -- "Everybody Talks" (fine whatever) New Politics -- "Harlem" (literally who)
I think both Activision and Harmonix are going about this wrong. While Activision are just going balls-deep and blowing their entire load right away, Harmonix are revealing songs at a snail's pace. Ideally, we'd have 15-20 songs from each, rather than FIFTY-SEVEN from GHLive and fucking six from RB4. |

| catfish and the bottlemen are good
Deap Vally are actually good, but kind of bummed by the choice of Wolfmother song and they should have held out to get one of Bullet's new songs. Maybe Rock Band got that, or maybe it'll be DLC later. who knows.
They clearly picked that Soundgarden song as a way of saying "hey, WE'VE been away too long! Hilarious!". It's not funny.
I guess they chose Tribute for Tenacious D as an easy one to throw on trailers and the like if they get bored of the Black Keys being their main song. It's also a guaranteed attention-grabber if they do a soundtrack CD like before. The Halestorm song is a good choice, honestly shocked by how good the Pearl Jam choice is and it's great to see Beartooth in a game. I feel like GH guys have just been trawling british rock/metal stations lately to flesh their setlist out.
Marmozets song choice is obvious but I wish it had been Particle. Shit, there is a LOT of British rock in this. I guess Guitar Hero sold really well here before so they're tapping into that from the outset? Royal Blood as well, Blitz Kids... Fuck. If they'd taken this approach back on World Tour maybe the series wouldn't have gone to shit.
There's a lot of good songs here. I'm tempted. But GH's history is a big setback for me and I need convincing that their approach to DLC will be better than before, especially when Rock Band will almost certainly be all guns blazing from the start. That said, if I get a PS4 before an X1, Rock Band's DLC export thing might end up being a big factor for me. I want to get Rock Band 4 for Xbox One as that's the only way I can bring my old DLC forward. So if I get a PS4, I might end up picking Guitar Hero up first.
Was it Rock Band 2 that revealed their full tracklist at E3 that one time? Or was that Beatles Rock Band? |

| Hm, I thought there was already an Alter Bridge song announced.
That KONGOS song was on a bunch of adverts a while back, and they're another rad band who I'd genuinely never have expected to be in this game. Nice to see Jet in the game and I can see why they chose American Idiot even if I do wish they'd picked a better Green Day song.
Happy with White Zombie and the Strokes, happy with the RATM choice I guess, generally surprised at how much I'm digging this tracklist, even with stuff like Bruno Mars, Calvin Harris, Avicii and Skrillex.
Hell, I'm almost tempted to give them a bonus mark for picking a Bruno Mars song that isn't Uptown Funk.
Guitar Hero is going for the weirdest cross-section of music fans and it could backfire spectacularly from a sales perspective but personally I'm digging it right now.
EDIT: okay yeah the guitar hero website says Cry of Achilles and doesn't mention Addicted to Pain at all, weird. |
