Today marks the release of Super Mario 3D World in Japan. To celebrate, Sakurai released this picture of the four playable characters in the game.

Okay, today we got a new stage. It's based on the 3DS thing called "Find Mii/Streetpass Quest". I think what happens in the game is you assemble a team of Miis that your 3DS picks up from WiFi hotspots, and you take them through dungeons. You can also get promotional Miis from Nintendo events, including Reggie and Iwata. The monster shown is the final boss.

The football item is back, and here we see Sanic and Wii Fit Trainer racing for it. Gee, I wonder who will win.

Here's another of Villager's attacks, the fire hydrant. Apparently, if you press the B button once, it fires ahead, and if you mash it, Villager hops onto it and can steer it around.

Ever since Melee, people have wanted the Skull Kid from Majora's Mask as a playable character, despite him not doing much in the way of fighting. And only appearing in one game over ten years ago.
Sakurai has heard the people's cries, and has made him an assist trophy.
