lordy, what a bizarre character. why wouldn't they just make her an alternate costume?

The one where Captain Falcon is running people over is his final smash, the same one he had in Brawl. I'm talking about the one with Palutena between the gold and silver Captain Falcons.


As far as Fire Emblem goes, the latest entry saw a surge in popularity for the series. Its main character, Chrom, was one of the most requested characters for the game.

And if they put a character in as a "costume" for a completely different character, I'm done. That is 100% where I'd draw the line. I'd rather have the roster full of Fox clones than have Mugen-ass bullshit in the game.
That isn't to say Lucina wasn't a shit choice on every level, though.
If they wanted a character from Awakening, they should have picked Chrom, who was more requested and actually important to the plot (and he looks less similar to Marth).
If they wanted a Marth clone, they should have picked Roy, who was more requested and could at least have his fire sword (and he looks completely different from Marth).
If they wanted a girl, they should have picked Lyn, who was more requested and more relevant to her game (and fights and looks completely different from Marth), or Anna, who has been in every Fire Emblem game but the second, and will likely continue to be in every game until the end of time (and who fights and looks completely different from Marth), or even Tiki, who has been in several FE games, including Awakening, and can turn into a small dragon (and who fights and looks completely different from Marth).

The more I think about it, the more I hate it, so let's just leave it there.

Okay, no interesting pictures this time, but Sakurai has given some information on Lucina in relation to Marth.

She's basically Toon Link. Prepare for Marth to be completely useless because of this.

as a fan of marth, i must say his sweet spot stuff is a majority of the reason I like him so much. Is Lucina's sword the same length as marth's?

Canonically, it's the same exact sword, since she's his descendant and everything.
It looks about the same in the screenshots, even after the redesign.

Robin is the most gimmicky fighter yet. Not only does his/her tomes have limited usage, but his/her levin sword does, too. Meaning that if you overuse it, you'll be stuck with the shit-ass bronze sword.

Here's some more Robin info (plus one thing about Lucina), direct from Famitsu. Remember that both the levin sword and the tomes have a finite number of uses. This is probably because his moves seem OP as shit.

One very important detail that both the character reveal trailer and Sakurai left out, however, is that you can actually start a match as Lucina with her mask on. In fact, Lucina has a taunt that lets her put on or remove the mask, in a similar fashion to Guile's "sunglasses" taunt in Ultra Street Fighter 4.

Robin's Forward Smash
This move strikes your opponent with Robin's Thunder Sword. However, as you can only use Robin's Thunder Sword attacks a certain number of times, once you've run out of uses, this attack will hit with a regular bronze sword instead.

Forward air attack
When performing this move, if you were to smash the analog stick in the forward direction, Robin will attack with his Thunder Sword for additional electric damage. But like all of Robin's Thunder Sword attacks, you can only use the improved version a finite number of times.

Down+B: Nosferatu
Purple-black smog in the shape of a snake appears right in front of Robin when this move is used. If your opponent is hit by it, he or she will be "cursed" by the spell. When a cursed opponent is hit, Robin's health meter will recover. What's also interesting is that if the cursed opponent is struck from the back, the amount of health Robin recovers will be larger.

Neutral B: Thunder
Hitting the button once will activate a charging period for Robin's Thunder spell, and hitting it again will cast it. The amount of time Robin charges will determine the version of the spell cast (Thunder, Elthunder, Arc Thunder, or Thoron).
While charging, you can also hit the shield button to cancel the move and store the charge -- the next time you hit the B button, Robin will resume charging from wherever you left off previously.

Up+B: Elwind
When this special move is performed in the air, Robin produces two green projectiles that he sends flying downwards, which simultaneously propels him upwards. However, you can only use this move a limited number of times. Once you've exceeded the number of uses, Robin will not produce the projectiles or jump higher.

Side+B: Arc Fire
Robin produces a projectile that flies diagonally downwards. When the projectile comes into contact with the stage, an opponent, or an item, it will generate a pillar of fire that spreads upwards, and deal area damage to anyone nearby.

Then there's two images; one of Kirby after swallowing Lucina, and one of Lucina's B moves, comparing them to Marth's.

As the match's time limit winds down (if applicable), star K.O.s and screen K.O.s stop happening. They just die when they hit the edge.

"Robin's Nosferatu is the first ability in the Smash Bros. series that recovers your damage as it gives damage to others. The attack becomes even stronger if you strike from behind!"
I'd like to note that Robin can't use dark magic in his default class in Awakening, which is what he is in Kerfuffle. It's still more accurate than Ness and Lucas, though.

The new Star Fox stage is that ship again. It's always that ship.
But hey, the newcomer banners are gone. They're never down this early, and Nintendo said there will be a special announcement at the Kerfuffle tournament they're holding this month. I guess that means we're getting another character? I'm guessing Ness and/or Lucas, since it's Mother's anniversary this month, on the 27th.

The Wily's Castle stage will be available for both Wii U and 3DS. Wii U's version is set at night, and 3DS's is during the day.

Here's a new assist trophy. Takamaru was one of the favourites to be the "retro" character of the game (like Ice Climbers and Pit), since his game is getting released in English for the first time on the eshop, and he got a minigame in Nintendo Land.

Here's a new stage for 3DS based on the Paper Mario series. Its gimmick is that the fan in the background will blow the stage away and cause it to be replaced with another area from the Paper Mario games.

Like Spear Pillar from Brawl, three different Pokémon can appear on the stage to, uh, do shit. On this stage, it's Reshiram, Zekrom, and, uh, Milotic.

Remember home run contest? Remember break the targets? Well, in addition to regular home run contest (REGULAR BREAK THE TARGETS UNCONFIRMED), there's this weird combination game. You smack a bomb off a platform into a mass of targets. The more targets you destroy, the better you do.

"Pic of the day. Victini and Xerneas are both support Pokémon. Victini's Victory Star boosts the attack of whoever throws the Poké Ball, and also prevents flinching. Xerneas's Geomancy increases the launch power of all fighters, but exceptionally raises it for whoever had the Poké Ball."
