BONUS REVIEW: "The Joshua Tree" by U2

One thing I've noticed about all of the U2 albums I've listened to so far is that they all sort of sound alike. You could trade half an album for another album's half and not even notice. It's just how they go about it that dictates whether one album is better than another.
I guess the biggest problem is that I want to like U2 more than I do. I think they're pretty okay. However, I've tried to find something I'd be blown away by four times. I actually own physical copies of two of their albums.

This album is probably the closest thing to jazz I will ever like. Yellow would probably like it.

BONUS REVIEW: "Mellow Gold" by Beck

Welp.
On this album, Beck decides to put sjitloads of effects on his voice and make his songs unlistenable. More at eleven.

20 May 2012: "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead
Welp.
Starts with the title track. Very much one of those songs you know and love/don't care about.
Overall, if you like the title track, you should like this album. If you don't, you won't.
I thought it was good.
Highlights: Ace of Spades
Lowlights: Love Me Like a Reptile

BONUS REVIEW: "Jailbreak" by Thin Lizzy

Starts with the title track. You know.
Someone once said something like "Phil Lynott could sing anything and make it sound badass". I would have agreed, Teal, but then I heard Running Back.
Warriors uses vocal effects in really odd ways. You could say "incorrectly".
I guess my main problem with this album is that, aside from Jailbreak, The Boys are Back in Town, and Cowboy Song, nothing impressed me. And I've heard all three before. Oh, Emerald was great, too.

This album is on the very top of the essentials list. I'm going into this blind, and hope I don't enjoy it.

It's another great live album and whatever. I'm still depressed, though.

I figure that as long as I'm Orange Mk. I, I'd better act like it.
This album is pretty much what I expected it to be. It was good.
Highlights: I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light, Jaws Theme Swimming

23 May 2012: "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" by Derek and the Dominos
Welp.
This album isn't what I expected it to be. I expected it to be a bunch of boring ballads, featuring Layla. There are a lot more rock/blues songs and it's great and stuff.
This is one of the best albums I've reviewed in a while. However, I don't like their cover of Little Wing.
Highlights: Layla, Why Does Love Got to be so Sad?, Tell the Truth, Keep on Growing
Lowlights: Little Wing, Thorn Tree in the Garden, Key to the Highway, I am Yours

Basically, this album is a very good effort, and a decent note for the band to go out on.

Oh boy.
I found this album incredibly boring. Some parts were okay, but, overall, I'll pass.

I went into this knowing next to nothing about the artist. I'm very sheltered, musically.

This album features Wings' namesake. R.I.P.
The thing I love about Kansas is that they strode the line between ROCK and progressive whatever very well. They made songs for both sides, without alienating me. When I think about Kansas, I don't think "ugh" like with most of their contemporaries, I think "fuck yeah". I don't know about you guys, but I'm eager for more Kansas.
tl;dr: wings was right about everything

26 May 2012: "Crosby, Stills and Nash" by Crosby, Stills and Nash
This was recommended by Yellow.
I think that harmonies like on this album sound incredibly old-fashioned. That's not a good thing. It really detracts from the music, ESPECIALLY when the harmonies are making "I" statements. "What have I got to lose?" All the emotional effect your song might have had.

Welp.
This album starts with the best Bon Jovi song, Lay Your Hands on Me. Then it's followed by the third-best Bon Jovi song, Bad Medicine.
Despite never reaching the peak the album started with again, the songs on this album are super-good. Better than Slippery When Wet, which gets all the credit.
Highlights: Lay Your Hands on Me, Bad Medicine
Lowlights: Living in Sin

Best. I might go so far as to call this the second best glam metal album, after the obvious.

27 May 2012: "Rides Again" by The James Gang
Welp.
This album starts with Funk 49, which is pretty fucking awesome, as we all know.
Garden Gate reminds me of something. I can't place it, though. EDIT: 16 Apr 2014: It reminds me of "Casey Jones" by Grateful Dead. The very end.
This album loses a lot of momentum, but gains some of it back by the end.

This album starts with Breaking the Law, the very definition of filler.
It's a real shame that the only song on this album that is anywhere above average is Living After Midnight.

Rock You Like a Hurricane should have opened this album, rather than the vapid Bad Boys Running Wild.
Overall, this album was good. I don't have any other problems with it.
