starts badly with paint it black
paint it black is a song that is already perfect and has no room for improvement
it's not a song where you can just slap some electric guitars on it

immigrant song doesn't work if you can't wail like a banshee
you should have done this cover thirty years ago

paperback writer is the first cover here that works well
it sounds like he's saying "it's a dirty story of a dirty man and his cleaning wife who doesn't understand" which is a fun change

i gave this album a bad score but i only remember hot for teacher, panama, and JUMP

the album begins with the title track, which is a "hey i just got a synthesiser let's try it out!!!" track
it's the filleriest of filler tracks

then comes jump
ugh
i would really like jump if it didn't have that synthesiser as the main fucking instrument
i like the 80s and synthesisers in most contexts
jump's synth is just TOO MUCH
imagine if the synth solo was a guitar just noodling all over the place
REPLACE ALL THE SYNTH WITH GUITAR 1:1
NOW JUMP IS A 10/10
however, i still say that the mashup of jump and imagine is a 10/10

so panama is like "THE" overplayed van halen song but i still like it
i don't REALLY like it but it's good
if we're talking the big radio hitz i'd rather listen to ain't talkin' 'bout love or something
still better than jamie's cryin though

top jimmy is great
and i can't say no to hot for teacher

i'll wait would have been better with hagar

overall, a bit better than i gave it credit for
that intro filler track though damn
