Things that will happen, Part One: Bethesda

Fallout

• Fallout gameplay (obvious). The first level is once again growing up in the Vault, where part of the Vault's experiment was how animals adjusted to Vault life, resulting in all admitted families arriving with a pet or animal of some kind.
  
• VATS is dead, but its spirit lives on in a new mechanic.
  
• A rough release date will be given, but not an exact one.
  
• Microsoft will have a timed exclusive on the first DLC.
  
• Obsidian's next game will be confirmed as a Fallout title, but rather than a New Vegas-style side game they will be working on a reimagination of Fallout Tactics. Or a Europe-set side-game. One of the two.
  
• A short film will be released exclusively on Xbox One as a prelude to FO4. It will be a glorified indy fan movie and despite a big name director, noone will care.

Not Fallout

• Elder Scrolls Online is discussed, subscriber numbers are hyped up, and a new expansion is revealed.
  
• An ES6 tease follows this reveal to end the conference.
  
• Wet 2 is revealed
  
• Doom 4 will get a short tease but nothing more. People will be encouraged to tune into the PC conference to find out more.
  
• Downloadable content for Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will be announced, releasing during E3

Things that will not happen

• Announcement of any Playstation-exclusive content.
  
• Any concrete ES6 information.

Things that will happen, Part Two: Microsoft

• Rock Band 4 will have live gameplay, with some band performing their own song. This will open the conference and the full tracklist so far will be announced. Xbox will get extra songs on disc that will come as DLC to PS4. Career mode will be explained.
  
• Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, Crackdown, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Left 4 Dead 3 are all shown, as well as multiple arcade games from Twisted Pixel, Epic Games and Rare.
  
• Rare HD Legacy Collection is announced
  
• More Fallout 4 stuff
  
• Kinect is shown during video footage but not referred to on stage. No Kinect-only titles are announced or shown.
  
• No price drop, but new free XBL services are announced
  
• An XIII sequel continues to not exist, ruining any point in Microsoft even presenting.

How does Recore look fun? We haven't seen anything resembling gameplay. All we saw was the concept.

Ubisoft did so much better than I'd thought.
I thought after South Park Fractured Anal and For Honour, they'd blown their entire load, but they ended with Assassin's Creed 58, which looks like it could be the best one yet, and Ghost Recon, which looks like it could be a 10/10 (could be shit though if they get too far over their heads).

Yeah I knew that Ubisoft would do well if they were able to keep the focus on the games and not Aisha.

The Division looks great, I'm hyped for Rainbow Six. I was really worried that Ubisoft would do some serious posthumous destruction of the Tom Clancy franchises but nope. 

Fractured Anal should be great, Trackmania is a good bit of reassurance that there's still a reason to get a PS4... Ubisoft did great. Let's hope Sony can close the day out nicely.

The Uncharted 4 footage was fucking great.

The rest of the presentation fucking pissed me off. They show a lot of cool shit and don't even talk about it, then they spend fucking ten minutes on Call of Duty 86.
What is World of Final Fantasy? Is it single-player or multiplayer? Offline or online? Turn-based or real-time? Why are Cloud and Warrior of Light there?
What is Firewatch? Seriously, what is it? What are you doing during it?
They said Hitman will have a digital release. Does that mean no disc release?

All they did is piss me the fuck off by showing all this shit, raising so many questions, and leaving me hanging.

Horizon: Zero Dawn and Firewatch look superb.

No Man's Sky, even more insane than I expected.

Dreams has potential.

Destiny, sure why not.

Chibi Final Fantasy looks cool as heck, and even as someone who doesn't like J-RPGs at all I could see myself checking out the FF7 remake.

Batman, Uncharted and the kiddie Star Wars stuff all looked cool as well.



Sony came out swinging at this. Reminds me of that Microsoft conference a few years back though where it was a REALLY good conference but very little was exclusive. But the bottom line is that it's a fucking great time to love video games right now. In a year's time when I have an Xbox One and a Playstation 4, I'm gonna be the happiest fucker around.

The Last Guardian looked awful and No Man's Sky will be the same deal as Spore, but on a much grander scale.

I would 100% buy a WiiU if all of the coolest stuff wasn't reliant on super-costly extras.

How do you figure?
Every game is playable out of the box without amiibo. It's all just neat extras that don't really do much. You could argue that Mario Party 10 and Animal Crossing Party need amiibo, but that's about it.

I can't think of any other "extras" you might be talking about.

That's exactly it, I like a lot of what Nintendo showed but it doesn't sell a WiiU to me when I'm already planning on shelling out on an X1, PS4 and a fuck load of Rock Band stuff. 

It's all stuff that will no doubt make existing Nintendo customers super happy. But all these cool little extras that would sell me on the console require Amiibos which I just don't have the money for. I wish I did, because the concept would be SO cool if I could afford to jump on board with it. 

I think this is all par for the course for Nintendo these days, their top priority is making existing customers happy rather than drawing in new ones. Unfortunately, that leaves them as kind of a footnote on my watchlist right now. 

I'd spring for a WiiU a lot quicker if they could announce a woolly or paper Metroid game, though. Or a Pokémon version of that Mario Maker thing. Or Paper Smash Bros.
