Young teenagers generally go two ways with music nowadays.
You have the "normal" kids who listen to the Lady Gagas, the Avenged Sevenfolds, etc., and you have the "WELL I ONLY LISTEN TO MUSIC FROM THE 80s AND BACK" kids.
The former don't give a shit. The latter think they're SPECIAL SNOWFLAKES, and feel the need to say it at every opportunity. The sad truth is, they're part of a huge group of, oh, let's call them hipsters. These hipsters are like the mainstream definition of hipster: think they're unique, but they aren't.
The former will probably cling to this music when they're old, calling it the golden age of music.
The latter, however, was us. Deny it all you wish, the majority of us barely delved into anything past 1994. We grew up, and began taking in everything. We look back, and realise something. Those people who loved newer music weren't wrong. We were just too stubborn to realise that no matter what year you look at, there will be good music from it. However, by doing this, we now have more music to catch up on. All this is new to us, and it's like rediscovering music as a whole.
Thank you, me from 2007-2009. You were retarded, but you were the best retard ever. I love you, me. Without you, I wouldn't exist, nor would today miraculous events have happened. Your stubbornness was a blessing, in a way.
