The first track's chorus is really, really bad. My ears are ringing. I had my buddy humble citizen add it to the index. It might just be the worst chorus in the history of choruses.
Disco was the worst thing that ever happened to Bill Withers. |

My track record with The Cure is spotty, at best. I hated both of their '80s albums I've reviewed, but I liked the one from 2004. This one directly followed Disintegration, so it should be awful like that one was. However, this album has the band's absolute best song.
Better than their '80s material, at least. |

I decided to review this album (despite being an hour-and-a-half live album) because it kicks off with probably the greatest song ever, the 1960s Batman theme. The cover of Summertime Blues is also pretty sweet.
Aside from those, the second disc is clearly superior to the first. They put all the filler in the first disc, which is an odd tactic. |

The Gentle Art of Making Enemies sounds like a SOAD song, years before SOAD even existed. Digging the Grave sounds like a QOTSA song, years before QOTSA even existed.
Following the track "King for a Day" with the track "What a Day" was inspired.
Probably the most frustrating band in existence. I want to like them, I really do. Their albums are just garbage, with too many different styles. Definition of a Greatest Hits band, to be honest. |

| 29 Oct 2015: Chris Cornell/"Carry On" (2007) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2015/10/julio-and-case-of-missing-desire-to-by.html
The two songs here you've likely heard before are You Know My Name, which was the main theme of Casino Royale, and Cornell's cover of Billie Jean. A year later, Cornell's cover of Billie Jean would be covered by David Cook on American Idol, and pretty much win the entire competition for him. The problem here is that I heard Cook's Billie Jean before Cornell's, meaning that I'm pretty much unaffected by this one. I have room to love two versions, and Cornell's gets the shaft. It's good, but I wouldn't listen to it over the original or David Cook's. I also don't really care for the guitar solo.
The best track here is Killing Birds, if you're interested. The album takes a bit to find its footing, but gets good in the middle. If you'd cut out the first five tracks, this would have been a great album. Shame. |

The last album the band would make until the twenty-first century.
Babylon Sisters goes on for way too long, and the entire thing is just annoying. It tries way too hard to be "big" and "grandiose" but it just falls flat on its face. The female backing vocalists are just too much for the song to bear. I have no idea what Dan was thinking.
I AM GLAD THIS BAND BROKE UP WHEN THEY DID MAYBE THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE IT ONE ALBUM SOONER |

| 30 Oct 2015: Ultimate Band A Disney-made rhythm game EXCLUSIVE to the Wii. Eat shit, Sonyggers and Xbots. Somehow this game got Radiohead. I'm beginning to think Thom just gave his songs to whatever game no one had heard of at the time.
Every song in the game was a cover version, but there are actually two vocal tracks per song, one being sung by a dude and the other by a chick. It's an interesting idea that was executed terribly, due to the fact that the male singer they got was absolute fucking garbage. Maybe I'm wrong, though. There were only, like, three gameplay videos on YouTube that didn't have a German person talking over the game constantly.
So, real thing here: Ultimate Band is the last one I'm doing for a while. I'm not going to do RB4 until I actually play it, I don't give a shit about GH Live, and there's really no other series I want to attempt right now. So after Ultimate Band, I'm going back to doing whatever. I wasn't even going to do Ultimate Band originally, but I figured it was the most fitting way to cap off the project. Honestly, I'm glad to be done with nu metal and modern grunge and all that shit. While my goal of realising that some bands I'd written off weren't bad at all succeeded, I really decided to do too many albums by the same generic modern rock/grunge/punk/nu metal bullshit bands that my average RYM rating for every decade but the '50s plummeted. MOST IMPORTANTLY: I AM NEVER GOING ANYWHERE NEAR ANOTHER LINKIN PARK ALBUM FOR AS LONG AS I LIVE
It only took me ten months to pop through all the rhythm games, which is less than I expected. I could have spent a bit more time on GH:WoR, but I wanted to be done with that and the On Tour games before the new David Cook album came out. If only I'd known it would be terrible.
30 Oct 2015: A-R Albums I've already reviewed: AFI/"Sing the Sorrow" (2003) Avril Lavigne/"Let Go" (2002) Blink-182/"Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" (2001) Blondie/"Parallel Lines" (1978) Blur/"Blur" (1997) Cheap Trick/"In Colour" (1977) Devo/"Freedom of Choice" (1980) Fall Out Boy/"Infinity on High" (2007) Free/"Fire and Water" (1970) Incubus/"Light Grenades" (2006) Kasabian/"Kasabian" (2004) Maroon 5/"It Won't be Soon Before Long" (2007) Modest Mouse/"We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" (2007) My Chemical Romance/"Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" (2004) Panic! At the Disco/"Pretty Odd" (2008) Paramore/"Riot!" (2007) Pixies/"Doolittle" (1989) Radiohead/"The Bends" (1995) Rooney/"Calling the World" (2007)
30 Oct 2015: Plain White T is/"Every Second Counts" (2006) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/04/65-tracks-day-by-just-as-i-planned.html
I am still sick of cheap "oh oh oh oh oh" hooks. It's the laziest songwriting in the world.
I feel like half the tracks here have the same melody, and the "LOUD and then quiet and LOUD" within the same line, every line.
Hey There Delilah is just annoying at this point.

| 30 Oct 2015: Razorlight/"Up All Night" (2004) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/04/oh-no-by-i-left-oven-on.html
This album is actually one I skipped for LEGO Rock Band, so I'm redeeming myself partially kind of I actually don't remember this song at all. It's not surprising, since it's unremarkable in every way.
Also, Up All Night is a relatively common name for an album. One Direction, Kip Moore, and Jon Pardi all came up on Spotify before these guys. The first one, fair enough. The other two I've never even heard of.
This band certainly exists. They are only remarkable in the fact that they are the most unremarkable band in the world.
To the Sea has a neat riff, but that's all I have to say about this. |

I will hate this album, but at least I will be able to say I listened to it. I remember last time I said the girls were great and the guy should never be allowed near a microphone, ever. Well, the third track of this album has proven me wrong. None of them should be allowed near a microphone, ever. Dance This Mess Around is legitimately the worst song I've ever heard that isn't by Sleater-Kinney. Rock Lobster is still terrible, by the way. Fuck you, . Roam is their only good song, and you hate it in favour of this absolute mess. "There's a moon in the sky; it's called The Moon" HOLY SHIT FUCK YOU I got one minute into the seventh track and skipped it. I just can't. I actually hate this band more than I did after last time. I didn't think they could do it. |

Gov't Mule was one of the bands I hadn't really listened to before that I really liked when I got to them on the GH setlist.
This one, however, is definitely a lot worse than High and Mighty. It's just kind of boring, and it's definitely less jammy. |

The title track is one of the band's absolute best songs. I appear to be in the minority, however, when I say that I like their cover of Johnny B. Goode.
Better than most of their material, nowhere close to Screaming for Vengeance or Painkiller. |
