Out of all the "my son's band"s in that week of GHWT DLC, I only chose this one because the band had a Wikipedia article.
They apparently also won a bunch of awards from Kerrang!. I can only assume that the awards were for "most generic band" and "most mediocre album". They definitely deserve it. |

The album opens with Mean Woman Blues. Prior to today, I had only heard Roy Orbison's version. I think Elvis's is better, honestly. |

I was really into the first track, but then it went into this annoying, like, thing. It sounds like the track is skipping.
A band that just gets worse as they age. |

| 30 Jul 2015: Guitar Hero: Metallica The second ever game based around one band. Better than Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (and Van Halen) simply because they put more effort into it.
I've reviewed all of the Metallica albums but one, so let's just skip that step. Also, I'm not reviewing Bob Seger you can't make me I refuse
30 Jul 2015: A-M Albums I've already reviewed: Alice in Chains/"Jar of Flies" (1994) Diamond Head/"Lightning to the Nations" (1982) Foo Fighters/"There is Nothing Left to Lose" (1999) Judas Priest/"Killing Machine" (1978) Kyuss/"Welcome to Sky Valley" (1994) Lynyrd Skynyrd/"Pronounced" (1973)
30 Jul 2015: Corrosion of Conformity/"Deliverance" (1994) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2015/07/julio-and-case-of-missing-celestial.html
No, the band name and the album name are not reversed.
Okay, listen. Listen. This is what metal should be like. Ignore the first track, which is really generic, Metallica-lite bullshit. Ignore the short, stupid instrumentals. The rest is gold, or silver at the very least. I'm not a metal guy, but I really like this album. |

Eight tracks, four of which are over nine minutes long. Two of those are over ten minutes long.
This album is everything that is wrong with metal. Playing down-tuned instruments FAST for the sake of it, growly, screamy vocals, and songs that are far, far too long. The guitar solos are neat, but that's all I will give this album. Pretty much a non-metal fan's idea of metal.
Like, it's not bad, but it's really not good, either. |

Definitely the worst of their three albums that I've listened to. The main problem is the penultimate track, which is thirteen minutes long for no good reason. |

This album is rated incredibly highly by the people on my RYM chums list. I can't wait to hate it.
Evil is pretty fucking sweet. It has a section that reminds me of Eye of the Tiger of all things, then SOLOS HOLY SHIT Great choice for GHM. Any GH game, really.
When Mr. Diamond goes high, he sounds like an awful version of Rob Halford. |

Standing, of course, for "Symphony and Metallica".
This album features two songs not found on any other Metallica release, No Leaf Clover (which is in GHM) and Minus Human.
What the FUCK have I gotten myself into? What the absolute FUCK is this? Less symphony more Metallica please I don't think I can take two hours of this shit. WHY is this two hours long? Why? What possible reason could they have had? Usually, bands trim the fat from their live releases. Metallica are apparently too good for that shit.
The first song with vocals is Master of Puppets. Hetfield already sounds like he's been singing all night (I cannot overstate this; he sounds tired as fuck), and he lets the crowd sing far too much of the song. It was probably great if you were there. On a live album, it's probably the worst thing you could do.
With a lot of these songs, you can see why they'd think putting an orchestra behind them would be cool. However, it just does not work with Fuel. Fuel is a great song, but it seems really overblown and self-important when you put an orchestra with it. The Memory Remains sounds kind of silly with the emphasis in the chorus on "BUT THE" (so the crowd can yell "memory remains").
Why the FUCK is Outlaw Torn fucking ten minutes long? It has to fucking reason to last THAT long. I believe I said the same thing when I reviewed Reload. Or was that the one album I didn't even bother finishing? Enter Sandman is on here. I skipped it.
I don't know why they decided to end on Battery rather than, you know, One. After actually listening to this version of Battery, I am glad they ended on it. It is easily the best thing here. "Are you alive?! How does it feel to be alive?!" Made the entire album for me.
But, hey, it's better than either of the Loads. |

This album was recorded in a toilet. If it hadn't been, it might be a good album. |

I've never heard War Ensemble past the first few seconds.
LIST OF GUITAR HERO DISC SONGS I HAVE NEVER BEATEN:
Fall of Pangea Jordan Through the Fire and the Flames Satch Boogie War Ensemble Eruption Spanish Fly And I'm 100% sure that I only completed the final tier of GHWoR because of those stupid fucking "POWERS" they give you that make it impossible to fail. And I'm pretty sure that if you put me in a room with it now, I wouldn't be able to complete Raining Blood ever again.
I'VE COMPLETED ALL THE ROCK BAND DISC SONGS THOUGH
The title track of this album is probably the worst song on it, contrary to what RYM insists. |

I am 100% sure that this band made it into GHM because Robert Truckdriver used to be a member. This band will never top Institutionalised. Institutionalised is legitimately a 10/10 track. |

The only one of the band's classic albums that I have left to review. I haven't heard anything at all about '80s Steely Dan, so I can only assume it's a hidden gem yet to be unearthed by mankind.
The only song here I've heard before is the lead-off track, Rikki, Don't Lose That Number. It's pretty sweet. "Any Major Dude Will Tell You" is probably the best song title in history, but it's kind of wasted on this song. It's a good song, but it's not the kind of song the title brings to mind. Like, I was imagining Bang Camaro when I read that title.
The best track here is With a Gun. If I were making a Rock Band list + DLC, I'd definitely put in a Steely Dan pack. |

Rough Boy sounds exactly like an Eagles album track. This, of course, means that it's brainless filler. |

| 05 Aug 2015: Guitar Hero: Skipped Numbers are Edgy Aside from the incredibly edgy title and lack of respect for the dead, this game had a lot to like. Shame.
Albums will be arranged by career venue, but in alphabetical order otherwise. Wikipedia actually has that information this time, which is shocking.
05 Aug 2015: Venue One Albums I've already reviewed: Blur/"Blur" (1997) Coldplay/"A Rush of Blood to the Head" (2002) The Rolling Stones/"Beggars' Banquet" (1968)

My history with Beck has been spotty at best. I first listened to two of his '90s albums, Mellow Gold and Odelay, and did not like either of them. Then in wave two of reviews, I reviewed a few albums released after Odelay, and liked them all (lowest score being a 3/5). LET'S SEE HOW THIS ONE GOES
it went well |

Well, it's a Bob Dylan album, no doubt about that one. All Along the Watchtower is a very good song, but the problem is that Hendrix just stole it away. There are some covers that just make the original versions obsolete, and Jimi's All Along the Watchtower is definitely one of them. I'm not going to get into a full list because you know that 99% of it will be Nirvana |

Full disclosure: I absolutely hate Feel Good Inc. . It is the only one of their songs that I have heard, and it is absolute garbage. But the song was in SNAE, and this album is on the /mu/ essentials list. I can't back down now, nigga I am going to hate this entire fucking album, and there is nothing you can do about it.
Begins with a pretentious filler intro track; great start. It is followed by an incredibly lethargic vocal performance. Lethargy is the name of the game with this album. This band does not give a shit in the worst possible way.
Thankfully, Feel Good Inc. is the the worst song here (because of the annoying fucking "shik shik shiky-shiky huh huh" shit and the stupid unnecessary rapping section). However, the entire album is still shit. Feel Good Inc. is especially horrible because it's the only track here that actually has shit in it that COULD HAVE made a good song, but they completely fucked it right up and made it the worst song for a joke.
the twenty-seventh 0.5 i have given on this gh/rb project |

I believe this would be the only time one of this man's songs would make it into one of these games. Kind of surprising, considering how inescapable Jack and Diane is. And then the thing is, the song wasn't even Jack and Diane. I guess it makes sense since John hates those two, but fuck.
John Cougar is probably the epitome of generic classic rock acts. It's exactly what I imagine Tony thought of when he imagined classic rock. I don't mean that as an insult (even though it kind of sounded like one), but come on. If scientists invented a robot to make the most generic classic rock imaginable, it would form a John Cougar cover band. |

Against my better judgement, here I am, reviewing a second Dire Straits album. As you may recall, Brothers in Arms was the most boring fucking album in history.
THE MUSIC IN THE FIRST TRACK DOESN'T START UNTIL ALMOST A MINUTE IN UNTIL THEN IT'S JUST SILENCE WHY WHAT IS THE POINT
Sultans of Swing isn't anywhere near as bad as I'd remembered, but it's still really a pointless song because Mark Vidler did it so much better. |
