After playing Oblivion to death and Skyrim for weeks now, I've decided I want some things done differently. Skyrim's gameplay system can stay, but here are some things I want VI to take from the rest of the series (or what i've read about it) and changes I want made:
MORROWIND:Factions that actually care about eachotherIn Oblivion, every town had guild halls for the Mages' and Fighters' Guilds. The two never interacted with eachother apart from the standard "ANY NEWS
" "MUDCRABS ARE SCARY
" "I'VE HEARD OTHERS SAY THE SAME
" "I'M DONE TALKING TO YOU
" "GOODBYE
"
In Morrowind, you had Great Houses who despised eachother, and you could join one (or two with glitches). You had a Fighters' Guild who despised the Thieves' Guild and respected the Mages' Guild. Hell, you could get one faction to hate you by working for the other.
Skyrim sort of has this with Stormcloaks/Imperial Legion, but the other factions are just
there. Apparently the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves' Guild have a good working relationship, but it's only every mentioned off-hand.
OBLIVION:People should be talking about the fearsome mudcrab plagueTHIS IS SERIOUS SHIT PEOPLE
An arenaI loved the arena in Oblivion; it was the first thing I did. Buff it up so you're not fighting animals at the end, though.
SHIVERING ISLES:Actual story about Daedric PrincesI hate how in Oblivion and Skyrim all you get is one quest for them. The Daedric Princes are probably the most interesting part of the series, yet you generally get one quest for each, then never hear about them again.
Sheogorath's story in Shivering Isles was interesting as fuck, and leads us TO
JyggalagOkay, so the Champion of Cyrodiil stops the Greymarch forever and becomes Sheogorath, freeing Jyggalag forever. We see Sheogorath in Skyrim, but not Jyggalag. I doubt Jyggalag would be quiet two-hundred years later, as he'd likely want revenge or some shit on the other non-him/Sheogorath Princes for making him Sheogorath for all that time.
Hopefully we'll get an expansion where we get to go to Jyggalag's realm or maybe the Shivering Isles again.
This plot was probably the most interesting thing the Champion of Cyrodiil did, and no one ever fucking mentions it. Fucking hell.
SKYRIM:NPCs who comment on your shit/conditionI like when guards compliment me on my armour or my Azura's Star. I like when people praise me for getting a skill to 100. I love when people remind me I have a disease. As long as we get rid of "FUR IN YOUR EARS" if you're a werewolf, we'll be good.
Shit like this is immersion 101.
CHANGES AND SHIT:No more childrenLook, the point of these games is "DO ANYTHING". You can kill [almost] everyone, you can go anywhere that isn't up a steep hill. Putting children in Skyrim was a fucking HUGE mistake. You can't kill them, and they're the ones you're gonna WANT to kill. "another adventurer come to lick my father's boots good job" makes me want to fucking kill him so bad, but NOPE. AMERICA SAYS YOU CAN'T KILL CHILDREN. This shit was bad enough in Fallout, but putting it in The Elder Scrolls is just retarded.
More on the Morag Tong/Dark Brotherhood thingThe Morag Tong and Dark Brotherhood are supposed to be enemies, but you never see anything of the sort. I want to be able to pick one of the two and cripple the region's other faction.
Granted, the Skyrim branch of the Dark Brotherhood is supposedly the last branch, but things are looking up! Dovahkiin is the Listener! Astrid is dead! Cicero is dead! The Night Mother is doing shit! They killed the fucking emperor! If they're not on their way back up, I don't think they'll ever be.
As far as the Morag Tong goes, I like the idea of an empire-sanctioned assassin guild. You know, just go for it.
