| 24 Jun 2018: Simple Minds/"Sons and Fascination" (1981) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2018/06/witty-retordt_24.html
the third track has a really awful noise that keeps repeating throughout it that sounds like a cow mooing |

ah yes the old warrant/skid row strategy of becoming a really shitty pseudo-grunge band after your genre dies it works better for extreme than for either of the above, since extreme weren't good to begin with (the turkish march and more than words excepted) and, of course, it's still miles better than the next project gary cherone would undertake |

| 01 Jul 2018: The Beatles/"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (1967) [revisited] http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2018/07/sgt-peppers-lonely-hearts-club-band.html
this was the big one, the beginning of the years people seem to like more the title track has a neat guitar part but i'm kind of numb to it at this point
with a little help from my friends cannot be done justice through words if anyone else sang the song, it would not work looking at you, joe cocker
lucy in the sky with diamonds is kind of annoying; definite candidate for worst song here getting better certainly exists
fixing a hole is underrated; inoffensive paul mccartney songwriting done right she's leaving home is a song i really liked for a time, but i don't like it much at all any more
being for the benefit of mr. kite is only worth it if you're listening to the love version within you, without you could be erased from existence and i would not shed a single tear
when i'm sixty-four is the song that made me realise this album has a lot more mediocre songs than i'd remembered lovely rita is a bit better but whatever
good morning, good morning is really, really good though the reprise of the title track is superior to the prise
a day in the life, of course, is perfect
this is the first one of these re-listens that has caused me to change my rating of one of their albums this time, the album's perfect 5/5 rating has been reduced to a 4/5
the only songs i'd actually listen to out of context of my own free will are with a little help from my friends, fixing a hole, good morning, maybe the reprise, and a day in the life |

04 Jul 2018: Looking Glass/"Looking Glass" (1972) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2018/07/youre-fine-girl.html
catherine street has a nice guitar solo but it's not the best song up until that point if you cut out every time the guy says "one by one", that song would probably only be a quarter as long |

18 Jul 2018: A Day to Remember/"What Separates Me from You" (2010) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2018/07/i-have-corndog.html
no expectations going in
oh nice harsh screaming vocals my favourite
thankfully, this album is mercifully short
the reason i did this album was that the rock band preview used normal-ish singing vocals instead of screaming, and the track they used in rock band is actually decent because of this however, i don't know if i actually liked it, or was just happy for the reprieve from the terrible screaming
okay so we're on track four and only one track has been terrible screaming but it was the first track so i had a knee-jerk reaction but honestly why would you lead with the outlier track? especially when the outlier is absolute shit like that?
okay track five is terrible screaming again i missed it so much said no one ever
if you removed the three screaming tracks, this would be an okay album shame about what happened |
