http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/12/gon-end-up-big-ol-pile-of-redbones.html

so i'm playing lego marvel superheroes 2 right
and star-lord's walkman plays come and get your love so i figured i should probably review the album it's on

i read that this band was made up of natives, but i was disappointed to learn they had normal names instead of being called 'runs with sitars' or 'arranges red flowers'

http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/12/m-o-t-o-r-i-n.html

do you feel like we do and tomorrow never knows is an interesting combination
it would have been better if it was just do you feel like we do

"wind me up like your music box; you can play me all night long"
i wish this song had never existed

22 Dec 2017: Robert Plant/"Pictures at Eleven" (1982)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/12/snap-snap.html

it feels like these songs are just
at the wrong tempo
like they should be slower or faster or something because it's really weird to listen to

26 Dec 2017: Aerosmith/"A Little South of Sanity" (1998)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/12/these-are-days-of-our-live-albums.html

aerosmith's fourth live album, but the first to have any songs from the 80s or 90s

there are some really weird filler tracks they played like falling in love is hard on the knees, monkey on my back, and walk on down
also i don't like janie's got a gun or livin' on the edge very much honestly

i like what steven tyler does with the vocal melody on same old song and dance
by which i mean he gets rid of it entirely

rag doll loses a bit in this version; the vocals in the studio version are great because of how cool and effortless steven tyler's vocals sound and in this one he puts in too much EFFORT

really nice version of last child here; it's nothing that will blow you out of the water, but it's a GREAT performance of the song
wish the guitar solo was a bit louder though

the other side sounds a lot cleaner than the album version, mostly due to steven tyler's vocals not being as raspy here, and the backing vocals being a lot different

if they wanted to give joe perry a song, they should have gone with bright light fright

what the fuck is this version of mama kin

the album plays better if you listen to disc two before disc one
back in the saddle is THE opener of openers
amazing is a better closer than sweet emotion

27 Dec 2017: Queen/"Live Killers" (1979)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/12/making-killing.html

a very interesting version of we will rock you, in which every member of the band has decided to forgo the melody entirely

live albums should cut out long sections of just "audience participation"; it absolutely ruins now i'm here on this album
is this freddie mercury singing '39? that's different

WHY IS BRIGHTON ROCK TWELVE MINUTES LONG (the band needed to U R I N A T E)
the sound quality on the "let me go" part of bohemian rhapsody is really poor, sound quality-wise

http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/12/every-picture-tells-story-dont-it.html

cupid's dead could definitely stand to lose the rapping section
YOU'RE ALL WHITE WHY DO YOU HAVE A SONG ABOUT MARTIN LUTHER KING JR IN FUCKING 1992

bad album

30 Dec 2017: The Flaming Lips/"Hit to Death in the Future Head" (1992)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/12/rip.html

this album is really good until the final track which i believe i am supposed to ignore
it's this weird dho KEEEEE noise over and over for half an hour
you kind of get into it after a minute or so but half an hour is a bit much
oh i know what it sounds like
get a really loud printer and print out like twenty thousand copies of your novel
after about twelve minutes i'm starting to get a headache
after half an hour i can honestly say that i didn't hate it

http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/12/this-will-be-our-year.html

so i wanted to end this year off with an album FROM this year
and then i decided that i haven't done a POWER METAL album in a while
and this one caught my eye
i hope it isn't terrible

01 Jan 2018: The Beatles/"With The Beatles" (1963) [revisited]
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2018/01/with-beatles-revisited.html

part two of what i said i'd do last month (last year even)

the album opens with it won't be long, which is a very good song but i'm not sure it's the best opener
i would have opened with all my loving but that's just me

all i've got to do is preformed well but i don't know it just kind of sounds like they played the song to get it done

all my loving is the definite highlight of the album in every single way

don't bother me is one of those songs that i tend to sleep on but it's legitimately one of the better tracks on the album
i think george did a better did a better job with his vocal on this track than on either of his please please me tracks
and as i recall it, it's one of his best early vocal performances period

little child just isn't good in any way
lyrics are uninspired, preformance isn't great, and the only remarkable thing here is the harmonica part, especially the solo
i always figured this song was a cover, but jesus it's a lennon/mccartney original
maybe the worst lennon/mccartney song until revolver

'til there was you is by far the best cover on the album
paul's vocal is perfect here
it should have closed out side 1

instead, the cover of please mr. postman closes side 1
now, it's a really good cover, and i enjoy it
but it would have been better served following little child rather than 'til there was you

roll over beethoven opens side 2 and the intro with just the guitar sounds kind of light
like, make it louder or something i don't know

paul's vocal on hold me tight borders on terrible

you've really got a hold on me has a nice laid-back vocal that really works i think

i wanna be your man is really good until lennon and mccartney come in with their vocal bit and ruin it

devil in her heart grows on you
it starts out like "uh"
but as it goes on it's like "okay i like this"

i always thought not a second time was on a hard day's night
it's kind of uh
existant

the album closes with money which i think is trying to replicate how please please me ended with twist and shout
it's a really good cover if nothing else

03 Jan 2018: Blue Swede/"Hooked on a Feeling" (1973)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2018/01/line-and-sinker.html

remember when i said i'd do the current rock band dlc?!
don't say i never keep my

the best thing about the title track is its ASSERTIVENESS
it strongly, DEFIANTLY tells you how the swede is, in fact, HOOKED on that feeling
