CHAPTOUR ONE:
Delivering the mail is a sacred duty, only entrusted to the most capable and passionate. One must forsake all personal conquests and relationships; one must become the post lady, and only the post lady. In every generation, our Lord chooses one child to become the post lady; the one who will deliver all which needs to be delivered. Others may be unnerved by the post lady's dedication and single-minded focus on delivery, but none would claim that she is not the single most important cog in this universe's machine. Just before the dawn of the twenty-first century, a new post lady came into power. Her parents were killed before she was old enough to remember them, and their names have been lost to time. Her true identity is irrelevant, for she is now the post lady, Layla Anne Postington. For almost twenty years, Layla has delivered countless letters and packages, fliers and postcards. Even what most would declare "junk mail" and throw straight into the garbage, Layla has gone through much hardship to deliver. In 2003, she had been shot in the line of duty, and continued on through the pain, so that everyone could receive their issues of Kathy Magazine and phone bills. She was running a bit late already, so she never went in to get the bullet removed, instead heading straight back to the post office to grab more letters. She carries this bullet with her to this day, everywhere she goes.

CHAPTOUR TWO:
The date is 18 November 2016, and everything is going according to schedule. The Hanukkah rush is coming up, but for now, Layla has only her normal workload. Midway through her deliveries, she gets to a large package intended for 1076 Burgundy Street. Layla hops out of the post truck, package in hand, and rings the doorbell. Suddenly, a large cage drops down around her, trapping her within. A man in a mask and cloak answers the door and grabs his package through the side of the cage. "so nice of you to drop by!!! now i have a subject on which to test my horrible magicks!!!" While anyone else in this situation would have insisted that 'magic' does not have a 'K' in it, Layla remains focussed on her job. She pulls a small diamond saw out of her pocket and begins to subtly saw away at the cage behind her, ready to escape and return to her route. She had allotted time in her schedule for 'captured by a madman', so she wasn't too put out by it. She still wanted to get out of the cage, however. "ah here we are" The man raises his new magic staff and points it at Layla. "hocus pocus abracadaba!!!" A beam of energy shoots out from the staff, and Layla is transported to another dimension.

CHAPTOUR THREE:
"ah fuck" Layla looks around at her surroundings, seeing nothing familiar. She appears to be in a forest, but instead of foliage, the landscape is nothing but rock. Rocks rise from the ground in the shape of trees, and these rock-trees are shined on from above by a purple sun. Directly in front of her flows a narrow, lazy river. The water appears to be normal water, slightly tinted purple by the sun. Behind her is a door, floating in space. Layla opens the door, hoping it leads back to Alabama, but it instead leads to a desert with green sand and a starry orange sky. Another door can be seen floating in the desert. Layla walks through her door and opens the second door, which leads to a great tundra with red snow and another orange night sky, with a purple aurora in the sky. In the tundra lies a third door, which Layla marches toward and opens. This time, she is sucked straight into a black void.

CHAPTOUR FOUR:
Layla awakens in a normal-looking forest; trees, grass, all the standard nature shit. Layla looks at her watch, which appears to be spinning backwards. One more week, and she will be able to afford that Rolex she has wanted; a job such as hers demands complete perfect mastery and knowledge of the time, and there is no better watch for this task than a Rolex. Layla flicks at her watch, hoping to set it straight, but nothing happens. Suddenly, a black and white striped horse appears in front of Layla. Most would call this creature a Zebra, but Layla does not care for such distinctions. A horse is a horse, regardless of its stripes or lack thereof. "hello hello welcome to the forest of illusion; navigate at your own peril, full of confusion" Without saying a word, Layla hops onto the striped horse and jams her heels into its sides, causing it to run off toward the exit. Layla had trained as a child to be able to ride horses, as mail-carriers in the past had depended on horses; being able to draw from the power of past mail-carriers was one skill Layla was sure she'd need, and she was being proven right as the striped horse ran into a harsh light.

CHAPTOUR FIVE:
The striped horse disappears from underneath Layla as she is warped home. Having trained for a horse-assassination in the line of duty, Layla is able to land on her feet and continue running, landing right next to the cage she'd been in previously. "wait WHAT how'd you get out already!!! i thought you'd be in the doors area for another hour at least, to say nothing of the forest of illusion!!!" "THE MAIL MUST AWAYS GO THROUGH" Layla hops into her mail truck and slams on the gas, heading for the next house. Even though her watch is back to telling the correct time, she discards it, as it cannot be trusted any longer. Layla soon finishes her route, and goes to Rolexez Я Us, where Shopkeepour stands behind the counter, chewing a fresh stick of Double Mint chewing gum. Layla purchases a watch that may not be as ornate as others in the shop, but the reliability is more important than the looks. With this purchase down, Layla begins to look into supercharging her mail truck.
THE END
