STARTERS:

I didn't like them at first, but owl and sea lion have grown on me. They could all end up being neat, I suppose. As of right now, I'm leaning toward the water guy, but I was all-in on Chespin last time and that didn't turn out well at all.
I just hope the owl's second stage isn't going to be that retarded smug-ass son of a fuck that /vp/ keeps spamming.

SIDE NOTE: the starters once again begin with an elemental move
water gun, ember, and a new move called "leafage"
i seriously hope "leafage" isn't the final name

On the official site, they've each got some flavour text.
Some highlights:
>Rowlet can attack without making a sound! It flies silently through the skies, drawing near to its opponent without being noticed, and then lashing out with powerful kicks. It can also attack from a distance using the razor-sharp leaves that form part of its feathers.
>Litten can attack with flaming hairballs! Its fur is rich in oils and immensely flammable. Litten grooms itself by licking its fur, and then uses the collected fur as fuel for fireball attacks! When the time comes for Litten to shed its old fur, it all burns up in a glorious blaze.
>Popplio's swimming speed is known to exceed 25 mph. It's better at moving in the water than on land. Still, when it's on land, it takes advantage of the elasticity of its balloons to perform acrobatic stunts and jumps.

The region is based on Hawaii, and is called the "Alola" region. I hope the name gets changed.

Reveals that you can at least choose your skin tone again this time. Four options this time: Aryan master race, white, tanned, nigger.

Outfit customisation has been subtly confirmed.

Box legendary details:

Solgaleo is Pokémon Sun's mascot, and is Psychic/Steel (weeeeeeeiiiiird). Its ability is a clear body, but with a different name. Its signature move is Sunsteel Strike, which is basically mold breaker in move form.
It also has hockey pucks for feet.

Lunala is Pokémon Moon's mascot, and is Psychic/Ghost (move over, Hoopa). Its ability is multiscale, but with a different name. Its signature move is Moongeist Beam, which is the same shit as Sunsteel Strike.


No clue what types the moves are, but I'd wager a guess they're steel and ghost.

I'm hyped for Alola despite the terrible region name.
Reminds me of Orange Islands from the anime or something. I like the idea of multiple small-medium but similar sized islands rather than one main landmass.

MORE NEW Pokémon NIGGAS

Koala is a normal-type, probably the region's Ratatta/Sentret/Zigzagoon/etc.
Its ability is completely new, and prevents it from getting any status conditions other than sleep. This means it cannot be poisoned, paralysed, or frozen. This will make it very useful in the beginning of the game.

Dog is a rock-type, probably the region's Poochyena/Shinx.
Its abilities are keen eye and vital spirit.
Notably, it has two more pieces of official art, so it's probably special somehow.


Remember this thing? Its ability is completely new, and by the sound of it, it's speed boost, but for special attack. Don't quote me on that one.


Remember how Xerneas has that slight colour change it does for some reason? Well, the box legendaries here have that as well.

MORE NEW Pokémon:

Yungoos? is the new regional rat. It's a mongoose of some sort? Abilities are Strong Jaw, which doubles the power of "bite" and "fang" moves, and a new one called Stakeout, which doubles attack power if attacking a Pokémon that just switched in.
Pikipek? is the new "definitely not Pidgey". It's ugly as fuck and has a stupid name. Keen Eye (big surprise) and Skill Link (makes multi-hit moves always hit the maximum amount of times) here.
Grubbin is the new bug guy.

So this thing's ability increases its special attack every time another Pokémon faints while it is on the field. Shame.

Here's the interface, which looks really stupid and annoying compared to the last three generations.

The new battle mode is basically 1v1v1v1, and each of the four players gets three Pokémon.

MORE NEW Pokémon


Tapu Koko is electric/fairy with a new ability that automatically sets the stage with electric terrain. It can learn the new move "nature's madness" which reduces the target's HP by half.

Charjabug is bug/electric with levitate. It evolves from Grubbin, who was revealed previously.
It evolves int Vikavolt, which looks rad as fuck. I am almost definitely using this guy.

Drampa (portmanteau of "dragon" and "grampa" I'm assuming) is normal/dragon with either sap sipper or the new ability berserk, which raises its special attack when its HP is below half. He's on my watch list.

Bruxish is water/psychic with either strong jaw or the new ability dazzle, which prevents opponents from using priority moves. I do not like him.

"Cutiefly" is bug/fairy with either honey gather or shield dust.

This one doesn't have an English name yet. It's electric/steel with either iron barbs or lightning rod.

This dog is named Rockruff. It's a rock-type that evolves at least once.

Komala is a normal-type with the new ability comatose, meaning it cannot have status conditions other than sleep.

Salandit is a poison/fire(!!!) guy with the new ability corrosion, which allows him to inflict poison status on poison- and steel-types(!!!).
I've got a new team member.

Both Serebii and Bulbapedia are calling these real, so I'll believe them.

Ghost/Fairy Pikachu (PIKABOO)
I want it.

Wimpod is a bug/water guy with a new ability that forces it to switch out or flee if its health drops below half. Have fun catching it!

Bounsweet (Cherubi in a diaper) is a pure grass-type with either leaf guard or oblivious.

Comfey (a lei, naturally) is a pure fairy-type with either flower veil or a new ability that gives priority to healing moves.

Mudsdale (a nigger horse) is a pure ground-type with either own tempo or a new ability that increases its defense by one stage when it is hit.

Bewear is that normal/fighting bear, with either klutz or a new ability that halves damage from contact moves but doubles damage from fire-type moves.

NEW Pokémon:

Oricoco is unique in that it completely changes depending on where you catch it. Moreso than Shellos/Gastrodon. Far moreso.
It can be:
Fire/Flying
Electric/Flying
Ghost/Flying
Psychic/Flying
It has a unique signature move that matches the first type of the version you have.

Next is another unique Pokémon called Minior. It is Rock/Flying.
When its health is above half, it is a defensive Pokémon that cannot be afflicted by status conditions.
When its health is below half, it is a speedy attacking Pokémon.

Certain Gen I Pokémon are COMPLETELY different in this game. Like, dude.

Exeggcute is normal, but Exeggutor is Grass/Dragon.

Vulpix is an ICE-type, and Ninetales is ICE/FAIRY.
i might actually use ninetales


Sandshrew and Sandslash are now ICE/STEEL, and even slower pieces of shit than before.

In general, I dislike the new Pokémon (with some notable exceptions), but I do like the Alola forms of old babes. I'll be curious to see how they handle new Persian before really having much of an opinion on Meowth, but new Marowak, Sandslash, Ninetales, and even Exeggutor are all pretty good (I give exeggutor a lot of grace for being so ridiculous).

All in all, still looking forward to this game.

SPECULATION: It has green front claws, blue fin for a tail, and a black body with purple sections. Maybe this is a fusion of the 3 starters? It seems like it could be....the biggest issue is the purple on the body. But who knows what the black cat evolves into.

Passimian is a new pure fighting-type that appears to be based on a quarterback. Probably Cam Newton.

Oranguru is a normal/psychic orangutan. He can learn a new move that is essentially encore, but instead of the move happening the next turn, it happens immediately.

the grass and fire starter look basically the same as the first stage. Fire especially just gets, like, a bell on the collar. I'm hoping this means the final evo is a drastic change (though it's not looking hopeful).

Water type.......not a fan. I don't like that they're going in the Dress Wearing direction. Probably gonna have a boring final evo in the vein of Delphox.
