24 Feb 2017: DragonForce/"Twilight Dementia" (2010)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/02/julio-and-case-of-missing-jewish-tricks.html

a LIVE ALBUM by DRAGONFORCE
the last album of theirs to feature zp theart

why is zp whispering on operation ground and pound

this album proves what everyone already knew:
dragonforce are largely a studio creation
also zp's live banter could use a lot of work (not calling the crowd assholes would be a good start)

25 Feb 2017: Dirty Projectors/"Dirty Projectors" (2017)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/02/so-dirty.html

the band's first album since 2012's BRILLIANT swing lo magellan

off to a bad start when the man's voice is digitally altered to be lower and sounds awful
and the really high voices are GODAWFUL
so bad that i had to skip most of the song, which i don't do often

the second track tries for more of a modern black sing-thing; it's actually okay
up in hudson's great though that's what i'm here for

then work together is terrible; any song where they fuck with the pitch of the guy's voice is just bad

DISAPPOINTING
they went to "100% artsy" when swing lo magellan was a 10/10 because it mixed artsy with ROCK GUITARS

http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2008/08/undressed-in-west.html

this was before their most famous shit (breaking the law/living after midnight was 1980, YGATC/electric eye was 1982, and so on)

http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2008/08/somebody-once-etc.html

let's just not talk about it okay

so i think it's pretty clear by now:
fush yu mang was the only decent smash mouth album
(astro lounge is arguable)

28 Feb 2017: KISS/"Jigoku Retsuden" (2008)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/02/oonta-gleeben-glouten-globen.html

this is an album of rerecordings of KISS's biggest hits
(minus beth because no one can do justice to it aside from peter criss)
why?
because (((gene simmons))) thought it would be a great idea to not have to pay royalties to ace frehley, peter criss, eric carr's family (may he r.i.p. in peace), and the other guy

have you ever wanted to listen to KISS but thought they showed way too much emotion?!
THEN THIS IS THE ALBUM FOR YOU

shout it out loud is still gay as fuck

http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/03/im-gettin-stiffy.html

if this had come out in 2015, it would have been AOTY, hands down
but since it came out in 2016, it's third behind AMSP and blackstar
maybe fourth behind that dinosaur jr. album i liked

http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/03/live-without-aid.html

came out today as i'm writing this
if you remember the mgs5 trailer with nuclear in it, this band's singer is the same guy who sang that one for mike oldfield

kiss this is one of those songs that i can just put on repeat indefinitely while i do other shit
unfortunately, the unplugged version just doesn't work; they should have put more energy into it

roll over beethoven starting with an excerpt from beethoven's fifth is kind of weird but okay
it's a bit bloated though; i can't see myself ever listening to this one again over the beatles's
