| 11 Feb 2017: KISS/"Alive IV" (2003) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2008/08/four-is-alive.html
i've been waiting on this one for a long time but it's finally time this album's version of rock and roll all nite is my shit right here
the thing about this one is that the first six tracks are just KISS, then the last fifteen are KISS with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
this version of strutter is a 10/10, especially for a "thirty years later" live version is "rock 'n' roll pneumonia" a brilliant intro for calling dr. love or a retarded one?
this version of detroit rock city is way too over-the-top the original's like "oh well guess i'm gonna die ha ha" this one's like "AH FUCK I'M GONNA DIE"
ending the album with rock and roll all nite was probably the best idea ever |

the first half of the album is great the second half just isn't |

| 15 Feb 2017: Buckethead and Friends/"Enter the Chicken" (2005) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2008/08/i-get-by-with-little-help-from-my.html
to celebrate the release of the 250th album in buckethead's half-decade-long pike series, here's a buckethead album pike 250 marks buckethead's 300th album overall, according to RYM i wish i were joking
the album is probably better-known as "the one with nottingham lace"
notably, two of the tracks on this album are disallowed by spotify for whatever reason they're less than twenty seconds long each so i doubt i'm missing much
this album has a bunch of guests, including SOAD guy (SOAD guy is the only one i recognise) SOAD guy is as SOADy as ever
oh good a super-screamy guy my favourite nice guitar solo though
wow a r&b/hip-hop guy legitimately did not see this one coming best song so far (even if that's not difficult)
generic singy girl excuse me while i fall asleep
i swear track 6 is meant to make me fall asleep for real i was joking about it on track 5 but fuck dude
the intro to track 7 sucks but once it gets going it's pretty sweet then it's boring again but then it's sweet again then it gets pretentious then it's boring again then it's sweet again
track nine is AWFUL the absolute worst of metal i skipped it
track ten features a dollar store version of SOAD guy no idea why he's here when actual SOAD guy is also here
buckethead would probably be really good in an actual band that had like a good singer like i don't know guns n' roses or something i am still hoping gn'r will invite buckethead back in to recut appetite for destruction in like two days just because it would be sweet as fuck
ANYWAY the final track is nottingham lace which is sweet as fuck without it, this album gets an 0.5/5 with it as the closer, i'm spotting the album an extra point if it weren't the closer, i'd probably be less generous |

| 16 Feb 2017: Guns N' Roses/"Live Era '87-'93" (1999) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2008/08/like-suicide.html
i've never listened to this and i feel like i definitely should have at some point (it's a double album so i never bothered unfortunately)
beginning with nightrain is always a good idea the performance starts out kind of poor but then it gets going and it's 10/10 as usual
this version of mr. brownstone is a lot better than the studio version
i like this version of my michelle a lot too; the guitar tone sounds a lot "darker" if you get what i mean the vocals are also strangely good (i can't put my finger on it, but i really like the choruses)
so, an electric version of the acoustic version of you're crazy best of both worlds, really
not sure electric used to love her works too well but it's a neat novelty that guitar solo on patience though wow and that last note? daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn nigga
there's a cover of black sabbath's it's alright here odd choice but i'm down
i don't really care for the piano intro they gave november rain it screams "bathroom break"
does this version of rocket queen even have a guitar part
sweet child o' mine sounds really strange when izzy's part is louder than guitar hero slash's and that weird outro is kind of fucked up
knockin' on heaven's door proceeds about how you'd expect but then after the "crowd singalong" segment axl yells "COME ON GIVE ME SOME REGGAE" and they begin playing the song in a reggae tone the part where axl and the crowd are all yelling "knock knock knockin' on heaven's door" is pretty great though |

17 Feb 2017: Elvis Presley/"Back in Memphis" (1970) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2017/02/julio-and-case-of-missing-nashville.html
the sequel to from elvis in memphis, which was GREAT both albums share the same bonus tracks and i did those last time so i'm not going to do them this time thanks
inherit the wind almost hits "trying too hard" but elvis toes the line just enough for it to work |

| 17 Feb 2017: Whitesnake/"Live in the Heart of the City" (1980) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2008/08/aint-no-love.html
there were just two snowstorms in one week and the snowbanks are six feet high so fuck you i'm doing a live album
come on is a lot cheerier here than on the studio album the intro of walking in the shadow of the blues is 10/10 (i'd kiss my fingers but you wouldn't see me do it so)
lovehunter's riff here sounds so weird but then after the song there's a fucking "bathroom break" jam for like five or six minutes (attached to the same track on the album naturally)
why does he talk about setting angels ablaze so much
ain't gonna cry no more is just kind of bland without the uh instruments in the intro which is a shame because it might be my favourite whitesnake song |

| 18 Feb 2017: Black Sabbath/"Live Evil" (1982) http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2008/08/review-weiver.html
i am just really enjoying live albums right now okay
this one is interesting because dio performs some ozzy-era tracks also the album title is a palindrome (why isn't the word palindrome a palindrome)
dio's N.I.B. sounds more angry than evil ozzy always made black sabbath (the song) sound really dark and evil and kind of creepy; dio just can't
what the fuck is dio doing to war pigs the crowd noise is too faint for the singalong to heaven and hell to work at all
dio tries too hard on paranoid
basically black sabbath songs only work with the guy who sang them originally |
