04 Dec 2015: Rainbow/"Stranger in Us All" (1995)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/03/standin-on-world-by-hellcats.html

The final Rainbow album.
The most interesting thing here is a version of the orchestral piece, In the Hall of the Mountain King. No relation to the Savatage song.

06 Dec 2015: Elf/"Elf" (1972)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/03/filler-by-jake.html

Elf, of course, was what Dio did before Rainbow.
So, Rick Derringer-ass blues-ass rock music. It sounds really strange hearing Dio sing over all of this, since he's, you know, an iconic metal guy.

First Avenue is kind of hilarious. Hearing Dio sing this kind of song is just fucking strange.
Worth listening to for the novelty alone. You're probably not going to listen more than once, though.

06 Dec 2015: Judas Priest/"Turbo" (1986)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2015/12/julio-and-case-of-missing-coldplay.html

I'm at the point with this band that I've done most of their albums, and I feel the need to finish the discography.

This album is the epitome of why people make fun of the '80s. Definitely the worst Judas Priest album I've listened to.

07 Dec 2015: Heaven's Basement/"Filthy Empire" (2013)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2015/12/julio-and-case-of-missing-temple-by.html

You may remember I am Electric from Rock Band 4 or Need for Speed: Most Wanted: A Criterion Game.

"You lose; I win" is a pretty bad lyric.

The prechorus of Heartbreaking Son of a Bitch is basically "namedrop classic rock song titles".
Here is a list:
Jumpin' Jack Flash
Telegram Sam
Ziggy Stardust
four lines
three song titles
pretty impressive

The album would be better if it were four or five tracks shorter, like most albums I seem to review.

07 Dec 2015: The Outlaws/"Lady in Waiting" (1976)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/03/much-today-by-men-of-action.html

A straight-up country album. Despite what everyone says, this is not southern rock. It is country music.
I'm not saying that as a bad thing; I'm just saying.

BONUS REVIEW: Stone Temple Pilots/"Core" (1992)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/03/raaaaaaaaaaaaage-by.html

With the recent death of Scott Weiland, I feel it's time to do the revisit of this album I'd been meaning to do for years now.
I TOTALLY DIDN'T ALMOST TYPE HIS NAME AS "SCOTT STAPP" HAHA
but come on
stapp - ap = stp so i mean you can see why

Dead and Bloated really doesn't need to be five minutes long. Three would have been enough. It's also not the best opener in the world.
Sex-Type Thing is a lot better than I'd remembered. It's definitely one of those songs you need to hear a few times to get used to the whole sound of it.

Sin has absolutely no business being six minutes long.
Why is Creep smack-dab in the middle of the album? It's a perfect closer, but it's track seven of twelve.

Plush should have opened the album. It's the best grunge song.
Following up Plush is impossible, so they didn't even try. After Plush is the epitome of filler tracks.

They should have just ended after Plush. Nothing after that is interesting at all.
MY 3/5 RATING WAS THE CORRECT RATING FOR THIS ALBUM

09 Dec 2015: Blue Cheer/"Vincebus Eruptum" (1968)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2015/12/julio-and-case-of-missing-pressed-shirt.html

remember when blue cheer invented heavy metal
good times

My only problem with their version of Summertime Blues is that all the dialogue spoken from a point of view other than the protagonist of the song is replaced by guitar, which really only works if you were familiar with the song beforehand.

09 Dec 2015: Paul Gilbert/"Gilbert Hotel" (2003)

An acoustic Paul Gilbert album.
Not his best songwriting, or his best covers.

I only have one album of theirs I haven't reviewed, so let's just get it done here.
Blackball was in THPS4 if you're into that sort of thing.

there is a song called "kill the president"
pretty fucking edgy i'd say

11 Dec 2015: Coldplay/"A Head Full of Dreams" (2015)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2015/12/julio-and-case-of-missing-functional.html

Okay, this album came out a full week ago, but they didn't put it on Spotify until today.

Coldplay's last album, Ghost Stories, was absolutely their worst, so my hopes aren't very high here.
The title references a song from that album, A Sky Full of Stars. It was the big, monotonous hit from that album. It was one of the worst songs on that album, naturally.

I thought Hymn for the Weekend was an ad for a beyonce album or whatever. That's not a good sign. Same with Adventure of a Lifetime. beyonce-ass pop-ass music is not what I think of when I think of adventure, especially the adventure of a lifetime.
I looked it up, and Hymn for the Weekend is actually beyonce herself. No clue how I knew that.

Kaleidoscope is one of those pretentious "speaking over music" things. One speaker is none other than President Barack Obama. I don't think it's ripped from something else. My spellcheck doesn't like the name Barack, as a note.
Army of One has an incredibly annoying noise repeating through it. Is that an instrument? Whoever invented that should have been killed.

The final track is just kind of whatever. I like the guitar solo, played by none other than Noel Gallagher.

Coldplay have outdone themselves with this piece of shit.
I hope they don't play anything from this at the Super Bowl halftime show this year, for their sake.

http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2015/12/julio-and-case-of-missing-hot-dogs-by.html

The album cover for this one is interesting. It's the cover from "Heroes" with a big white block covering most of it.

Ending on the worst track is also interesting.

13 Dec 2015: Deep Purple/"Bananas" (2003)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2010/03/good-reviews-tomorrow-by-cant-wait.html

I honestly have no idea what they were going for with the album art and title. The songs don't line-up with what the album cover would have me believe.
This shit is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S

This is the first Deep Purple album to not feature Jon Lord, which in itself is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S
After Lord left Whitesnake, he was replaced by Don Airey. In Deep Purple, Airey once again replaces Lord, which is also bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S

Walk On would be a good song if it weren't seven minutes long for some reason. That shit is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S

14 Dec 2015: Elvis Presley/"Elvis's Hanukkah Album" (1957)
http://musiccouldbebetter.blogspot.com/2009/12/bella-donna-by-stevman-nicks.html

happy honk

Side A:
A1: Hanukkah Guy is Back in Town
A2: White Hanukkah
A3: Here Comes Hanukkah Guy
A4: I'll be Home for Hanukkah
A5: Blue Hanukkah
A6: Hanukkah Guy Bring My Baby Back

Side B:
a bunch of religious shit

The religious half kind of brings this album down. It's really samey, and all the tracks kind of run together. Should have just been more Hanukkah Carols.

You may know Brandon Flowers as the guy who overcompensated for the lack of masculinity his last name portrays by naming his band "The Killers".
