That's not The Flaming Lips.
That's not the fucking funeral dirge Hanukkah album.

I haven't actually listened to those Flaming Lips albums....maybe someday. I've listened to parts of their pink floyd and king crimson cover albums though. Nothing to write home about
And
>no moonage daydream outro solo

The Dark Side of the Moon one was a lot better than the other two, trust me.

Finally got around to listening to snippets from both flaming lips albums
Their Sgt Peppers cover album is truly atrocious, I will admit. It tries way too hard to be trippy, and I'm not a particular fan of their guest vocalists. The songs are either battered to hell, or straight covers with annoying synths instead of guitars and strings. The needless reverb doesn't really help (though sgt peppers was originally critiqued for the exact same reason so there's that)
However, the hanukkah album is decent :$ Certainly not everybody's cup of tea, but there's something about jazz piano topped by sitar, tamboura, and a synth soloman (it could be a flute reverbed to hell and back, who knows really). in contrast to the direction they took Sgt Peppers, this could have been far worse than it was. (the title track is an example of how bad it could have been)
EDIT: Still listening to imogen piss, their version of The Christmas Song is among my favorite songs in their entire catalogue. I am now desiring more christmas songs with mellotron

Every band I've ever loved, give or take a few, have made atrocious covers of Cold Sweat
And in Megadeth's case, it's actually the second best song off the album

So, this is really only half a cover (in that it's a christmas standard), but it HEAVILY samples Tomorrow Never Knows, and all in all it's an abomination in my mind. Also they have an entire album of christmas songs in the style of the beatles and it scares me
